Oxford Bike Shop Trail
16 reviews

This trail is fun, fast and often technical. It has things for all skill levels. A couple of creek crossings that can be great fun. There's also a great bike shop right at the trailhead.
The short way for me is to go out US78 to Loganville and then catch the 81 South with the sign pointing toward Oxford. After about 15 minutes on that, take a left on 142 (Look for Booger's Mill Rd. on the left, it's a couple streets after that). Stay on 142 for a couple of miles and the road to the bike shop will be on the left along with a sign that reads "bike shop". You can also go out I-20 to exit 46 (I think). Call Road and Trail Cyclery and he can tell you the best directions from I-20.
Summary: Al closed this trail a year or two back. I haven't heard of it re-opening. I think it crossed power company land and they were not receptive to such activity. Too bad, it was a good course.
Recommended Route: none

Summary: Al has added a couple of miles of new, extremely tight, through the pine trees, technical trail. I rode this course all summer and my last ride here was in October 2002. I rode it in March for the 1st time this year...The new sections of the trail were very suprising. I like what they have done with it. You even have a "Rural Ghetto" section to ride through, complete with broken truck camper tops junked out trailers and piles of junk. If I had read from someone else that you have to ride past 75 broken lawn mowers placed end to end, i would not have believed it. I would have thought that someone was poking fun at the bike shop owner, but it's true. Basically, the old trail is still there, but they have added enough new trail to make it long enough to be a good ride. It used to be Approx 5.6 miles and now it's approx. 7.5 miles. The new sections through the trees are very slow going..it makes me want to hack saw the handlebars off. Anyway, the trail is pretty good now, and I recommend it if you can get by there.
Recommended Route: You can ride either direction, but there is only 1 route.

Ridden Trail: Every few months

Summary: I rode this trail for the first time at the Chainbuster Challenge race last year. I had no idea what to expect then; and was punished by a muddy, highly technical single-track. I planned on riding the Chainbuster this year; and doing much better, thanks to training this past year. Little did I know what was in store when I went to pre-ride the course. Practically the only thing that is the same, is the level of difficulty, and I am a MUCH better mtn. biker than I was last year! Probably 50% of the trails are new and improved. There are a few gut busting technical climbs, some complete with log-piles to boot. The long climb towards the end of the loop is still there, as well as the twisty section through the pines. The start no longer includes the rutted and steepish downhill, replaced by the aforementioned "new and improved" sections. I dont think this is a trail I would introduce a new mtn. biker to, unless you didnt want to ride with them again. It's definately NOT a roadie course since there is no place to develop any speed or flow. It's not nearly as sweeping as conyers, or hawkes creek; more for the technical enthusiast.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Conyers Horse Park, Heritage Park, hawkes creek.

Summary: Come ride the trail its awsome, narrow tight twisting single track which flows quite well for those who can ride. Yes it is very techno, but this will increase your skills. There is nothing close to the level of riding around here close by. It will take you about 50 min to an hour to make the lap. Just come on out and you will see what Im talking about, and others too. See ya there!!!!

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: It is a shame that the last review of this trail is over six months old. What a change during that time. There are miles of new trail. These trails are not for the timid. They are almost all single track, some very tight, with logs, climbs and a few drops. If you keep on your bike and don't stop it will take you 40 to 60 minutes to make a round. Some less experianced riders may take 90 minutes and walk some of the more difficult sections. These trails will make you a better rider. I like technical so I rate these trails high.
Recommended Route: There is really only one way around the trail. Just follow the path behind the bile shop. The norman direction is counter-clockwise.
Other recommended trails in the same area: The Olympic Trail, Dauset, Yellow River (not the family side - across the Road)
