Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: These reviews really need updating. This trail is ever expanding and has about 12+ miles now and growing (if you take all the extensions). I would classify most of the trails as intermediate to advanced intermediate. It is a really fun and challenging system of trails. It is really worth the trip. Recommended Route: it is basically one big loop with extension loops branching off, and coming back to the main loop. the additional loops are basically every left you come to with signs. It would really help to have a local guide, but you would have to try hard to get lost. Map of the trails on the sign in the parking lot. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hawks Creek

Weekend Warrior Summary: Very nice, secluded gem in east Georgia. I was at the in laws for Thanksgiving and decided to drag the bike along for a pre-feast ride. Beautiful 70+ degrees and not a sole on the trails. Thank goodness I asked a local rider in the parking lot some pointers. I rode the red arrowed loop and took the orange here and there for some added terror! There are areas where the descents are extremely rooty and you need all your downhill prowess to come out clean. Beautiful creek crossings and some of the tightest single track in Georgia. Some of the hills on the expert areas required a dismount as they will suprise you, but can certainly be handled the 2nd time through. The trail seemed to vanish in spots in the tight singletrack in the wooded areas of the expert loop. More signs would be nice. Although missing a turn only caused one near death experience.
DIRECTIONS: The park is called Heritage Park, not Oconee Heritage. It is south of Athens 13 miles on 129-441 towards MADISON, not Monroe! here is the link; http://www.ocprd.com/heritage-park.aspx
Well worth the stop if you are visiting Athens, Monroe, Madison or Winder, GA.
I got about 5.75 miles in my ride, although the web site only lists 4 miles. I don't think I doubled anything and the local biker estimated 9 miles if you take all trails. Good riding! Recommended Route: Download a map first!

Weekend Warrior Summary: Another horse park in Georgia that proves to have sweet mountain bike trails. I've ridden this trail a couple times and had a blast every time! This trail is pretty smooth, not a whole lot of steep climbs, so you can pretty much pedal the whole way and smile all day long! Some roots and stuff to deal with, but that just makes it fun. The expert loop (orange blazes) is a little tighter, but it's all smooth Georgia red clay, mostly in the typical Georgia scrubby pine forests. Excellent trail, especially to ride multiple laps since it's so short. Recommended Route: Follow red blazes as suggested. Only addition is to do the Orange-blazed expert loop for a bit more of a challenge. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hawkes Creek Farm - ODD # DAYS ONLY
1996 Olympic Course

Racer Summary: Nice system, although built on very old school principles, meaning the erosion is really bad in some spots. This gives some sections a fun, rooty goat path feel that is quite technical. Very twisty in most sections, but there are sections that are open, flowing hardpack and super FAST. No real long climbs, but the one on the expert loop (I think - if it's the one everyone talks about) is a bit of a leg and lung burner because it is so steep. Recommended Route: Pretty much just did the race course without paying much attention to the colored arrows. Other recommended trails in the same area: Not from around here, so none.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Wonderful trail to get a workout on as well as dial in your skills/ride. You can get as crazy as you want to in some of the technical sections and can get in a great workout when you wish to tackle the climbs. Very picturesque in the spring and fall. Recommended in all kinds of weather. Worth the trip outside of Athens. Recommended Route: Very easy to get around. Follow the signs.
