Mansell Road

singletrack very rolling, curvy and fun, some very big jumps, for the hardcore only continue past the jump and on to the fire rood cross creek and on to a nice uphill which loops later on to bring you back down and back through many split off that lead to jumps and phun stuff

Summary:
This is the same as the Wooten Road trails. The trails still exist and are very well maintained. See rambo-mtb.org for more details.

The trails come in 4 levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and paved. Some of the trails are multi-use, shared with hikers. I enjoyed my ride around the trails. There's enough climb to make it a good workout. While I'm sure they are not the most challenging trails in N. GA, they are good. There's 5 miles or more of trails, well marked, numbered, etc. There's a few expert features, bridges, etc. There are signs directing traffic in one direction or the other depending on the day of the week.

The trails close for 24 hours after heavy rain. It seems a little ridiculous. Someone stopped me and informed me the trails were closed (a big red sign is posted at the entrance). The closure seemed focused on the 1.3 mile beginner loop at the south side of the park. The gentleman that stopped me suggested starting at the north parking lot and riding the intermediate and advanced trails the day after it rains. rambo-mtb.org posts closures.

Recommended Route:
The trail direction changes with the day of the week; roughly clockwise mon, wed, fri, sun and counterclockwise tue, thurs, sat.

does this still exist?

I rode the big creek trail and found it moderately entertaining. Looking for something a bit more fun...anyone?

Summary:
Well... If anyone knows what bone breaker is, or the DH haven that mansell once was, should be sad to know that the fun is pretty much over. There is a huge development going on back there right now and it took over much of what connected the old parking area at mansell office park to the new access point at old alabama. There is a good bit of xc still lingering out there but nothing like it once was. As for freeriding... the rythym section is gone, bone breaker is gone, im pretty sure big stupid is finished, and what was the DH run is pretty much destroyed. Ryan Bloch's slalom course needs work but isn't runable right now. The ravine is still there, as well as the gap jump over it. It's a very depressing sight.

Recommended Route:
I recommend you hotwire the construction equipment used for building that damn neighborhood and build a sick rythym section and a new jump park.

Summary:
Hey Weekend Warrior, I believe the new trail head is past Old Alabama Connector. A pal of mine got us all excited about the ride and disappointed us all with the other lame trail. Keep looking! If you find it let us all know. We can hook up and do some serious jumps!

Recommended Route:
Not sure if it still exists!

Summary:
Does anyone know if the Mansell Trail still exists. Several us tried to find it today but it appears that a neighborhood may have been built. We rode the Big Creek Trail in Roswell instead. Thanks for any input.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Big Creek Trail in Roswell. For a longer trail ride you may enjoy Chicopee Woods in Gainsville or Blankets Creek in Woodstock.
