Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: I heard about the trail, so I went to check it out. As previously mentioned, the trail was completely covered in leaves and branches. Mostly the branches that get up in your spokes. There are a couple places where the trail splits off and it looks like somebody didn't finish making the trail. They just kind of end. I went to the PX and bought a rake and orange marking tape and I went down to the trail. I started to clear the trail off, but realized it would take a while for that, so for now, I just went along and marked the main trail, loops, and shortcuts with orange tape. Also, I walked the trail and made a map with my GPS. So, it isn't a bad place to ride, just needs some work and maybe extend it. I would definatley check it out if you haven't been there. Recommended Route: Start on the trail to the left of the Brown "Fitness Trail ACOE Winnings" sign. There is a map in a page protector posted on a tree.

Racer Recommended Route: I was in the Fort Benning area so I figured I'd stop by and check out this trail. It looks like the last time this trail was reviewed was in May 2006. Unfortunately, two years later this trail is in poor condition and appears to be abandoned. The trail is covered in leaves and the guide markings consists of yellow 'caution' tape wrapped around a tree every once in a while. I did note a few old painted blazes. It looked like the trail was developed and maintained at one time in the past. Even though there were a quite a bit of leaves covering the trail you could still see the indentations caused by heavy usage. I also saw a few sections were somebody went to the trouble of bench cutting it. For now though, my recommendation would be to ride a Flat Rock. Other recommended trails in the same area: Flat Rock Park

Weekend Warrior Summary: I just came to ft benning within the last month and I have to say that I was very surprised at how nice the "Ft Benning Trail" is. All in all it is about a 4.5 mile journey that has some mild climbs and descents with some technical riding thrown in throughout. The scenery is lush and secluded.
When I was stationed in ft stewart the riding there was so terrible that I bought a tiny cabin near bull mountain just so I could ride someplace decent. Ft Benning is NO bull mountain! But for what it is - an after-work-commune-with-nature-technical-MTB-ride it gets five stars.
If you are a mt biker who works at ft benning this is the place to ride after work--beats the hell out of the gym! Other recommended trails in the same area: Flat rock--not as good as FT Benning in my opinion.

Downhiller Summary: I have been riding this trail once or twice a week, for the past 3 months. This is a great trail for anyone working in or around Ft. Benning. It was very run down when I first started riding it but me and others have been in the process of re-developing the trail. It has come a long way and has lots of potential!
It's not a single track that you can ride for hours and never see the same thing twice. The trail is cut up and weavs in and out of other trails and is lot of fun once you get the hang of the trails. There is everything from plush single track with lots of technical runs, to free riding with jumps, drops, logs and ladder runs.
In fact there is a section on the trail with some very intense ladder drops and ramps that clear 10 to 15 feet with lots of air! There is a little of everything and hopefully with the help of others things will continue to grow!
Like I said the trail is under development and growing but is still a great place to spend 30 min or an hour working on your skills or just getting a good work out in.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Flat Rock Park "Great single track riding"
Phenix City "Killer free-riding"

Weekend Warrior Summary: After reading the reviews, I decided to try out this trail. I only rode it for about 20-30 minutes, but it was fun. First of all, the gravel fitness trail connects all the bike trails, which branch off left and right. So if you 'drop in' to the first trail you see, you will miss other trails.
When I rode, the bike trails were clearly marked with colored tape tied to trees on the trail. There were quite a bit of small logs on the trails, and plenty of uphills and downhills.
The most interesting thing I found was what looked to be a mini grand canyon. It was about 20 feet deep and wide enough to drive a volkswagon thru. I'll let the readers find it for themselves...
The best part about this trail is the extra adrenaline rush that comes from a silly thought that you can't shake out of the back of your mind - "I hope I don't surprise any soldiers back here." (You won't - it's a recreation area.)
Civilians can get on post with a valid picture ID. After all, the golf course across the street is open to the public. Recommended Route: Due to current construction, the I-185 access point is closed. Get off at the last exit, going towards Cusseta. Bear right at the Eisenhower Interchange to enter the post at Custer Rd. Custer will take you back to 185 South where you will resume the original directions. Construction should be finished on 08/2004.
