Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: I rode this trail for the first time yesterday. I drove about an hour from Atl to get there and plan on returning. This trail is very challenging both from a technical and endurance level. It is not a particularly long ride but you can do several loops. Be ready for some long steep climbs and some fast technical downhills. I definately reccomend going and riding this trail. I will be back myself. Recommended Route: Go whichever way you please. The trail is well marked.

Cross Country Rider
, from Macon, GA Summary: I've actually ridden it twice now. Once was the pre-ride before the annual race, the second was the race. Right. It was tough. On the pre-ride there were climbs that had me stopped in my tracks due to steepness, but only one descent that scared the bejesus out of me until I found the right line. In the race, this place was just a killer. Uphill start/finish, guys throwing bikes down as soon as they cross the line. Carter's Lake is tough.
That's not to say it wasn't fun, it is. It's just a far cry from the real flowy, twisty stuff I think most people are used to. It is truly all up and down, and few turns on the way down to bank any speed. I wish I lived close enough to ride it at least once a week, because it would really do wonders for any aspiring racer's anaerobic abilities. I just couldn't breathe enough, you know? Recommended Route: Head down to the boat ramp in the rec area. At the top of the boat ramp parking lot, look to your left. There is the first of the orange Corp of Engineers markers that keep you on track. Other recommended trails in the same area: For more of the same, try Fort Mountain trails. The Gainesville area trails are all good.

, from kennesaw/savannah Summary: This trail really kicked my butt. I would not say that I am an avid mountain biker, but this trail is tough. I rode it after a hard rain and those uphills are killer. Bring your legs with you on this one. All in all it is a great challenge and great fun.
