Arrowhead Park
6 reviews

Technical & tight. The trails wind around the hills of Lake Tobosofkee. Continuously going up and down, this trail is sure to exercise the lungs, especially if multiple laps are run. Whoop-de-doos and slalom-like twists and turns will give your arms a full workout. There is a total of 640 feet of climbing. Entry is free into the Arrowhead Park for mountain bikers. Signs are currently up on the trail, but they are made of paper and will likely degrade. My best advice is to stay on the worn part of the trail, since there are forks and alternative routes. Construction of the trail is excellent, and allows for great "flow".

Trail Directions
West of Interstate 475. Take the Hwy 80 exit and head west for 3 miles. Take a right on Tidwell Road until it dead ends. Take a left on Columbus Road and take a right shortly thereafter into Arrowhead Park. Go through the gate, and when the road splits, fork left. Take your next left and park in front of the bathrooms. There are no signs showing the trail routes, but a spraypainted red parking block in the lot shows where the trail starts.

Summary:
I agree with the last review, as it is not very technical, but it will work the legs and lungs a bit. Nice scenery, nice singletrack, great flow. It's a local trail and not a destination like Moab or Fruita. Get out and ride.

Summary:
Not a bad trail at all. Gives me something I am missing down here in Savannah and haven't had since I left Colorado...hills. It's not that technical at all though. More of a cardio workout if you ride a couple of loops. None of the climbs were sustained or that bad.

Summary:
Close to a 5 mile loop. The first two miles is characterized by a good stiff climb and lots of BMX style rollers/compressions. The second half has some doubeltrack descending, some weird climbing chop, and is finished by a steeper than steep crawl which you descend on a sidehill trail immediately after. It's technical in ways you might not have encountered much. It is short, so riding it both ways can become a must if you want distance. Great workout.

I'm a local, part of the crew that helped build the place, so I'm partial to it. I think it stacks up nicely against most of the other places around the state we race. In fact, despite the short length it is one of the more demanding race courses we have. It'll lick ya good. For the second year it will be a stop on the SERC series.

It's a workout, that's for sure. But it isn't punishing in any sense if you think about your pace.

As for maintenance, which an earlier post addressed, well, we haven't been grooming it this fall, that's true. That being said, the leaves just make for a new and challenging trail surface, and I can still see the trail very easily. No worries.

Arrowhead is my favorite place in town.

Recommended Route:
Go straight down the entrance road until a Y, bear left. Take your next left and park near the bathrooms at the bottom of the hill. The trailhead for the race direction is to the left of the bathrooms. Go once clockwise, then counter, rinse, repeat.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Dauset, Pig Trail, Thomson.

Summary:
I really enjoyed this trail. It is a bit of a challenge if you are not in good shape. I think it was really planned out well. Thanks to the folks to put all of the time and effort into building this place.

Recommended Route:
Start to the left of the restrooms and follow the trail. When you come out to the culdasack go left and jump back in.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The Pig!!!!
