Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: I've ridden this trail hundreds of times over the last 10 yrs or so and it still is a blast each time. A new bypass of the very rough downhill, before the bridge before the climb to the landfill section, completed recently is excellent. Ride this trail backwards (counterclockwise) and you will work your ass off. Short intense aneorobic bursts to get over sharp roots, rocks , dropoffs will get you huffing and laughing at the same time. Clockwise is less difficult and allows you to flow. Don't forget to do the boy scout trail to the right of the trailhead as you are facing away from the highway. You must do the "expert" section. If you miss this you're missing half the fun.
Drawbacks: Oconee county locks the on site bathrooms. Guess they don't want to spend the $$ to clean them if they were open. Other recommended trails in the same area: Ft. Yargo
Fast, Fun, Flowing, Aerobic. New sections added regularly. Bathrooms open . Friendly St. Park staff. Lots of riders to talk to at the parking area.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Follow the arrows and keep pedaling. This was a very refreshing ride with a little of everything. Everything like rocks and roots and creeks and bridges and woop de doos, etc. Very entertaining.
I really didn't know what to expect and it was a pleasant surprise. Everyone in my ride enjoyed it. Even the novice guy who kept screaming but then he would still clear whatever obstacle we had just covered.
I rated these a Four for technical and aerobic to say that if you want more you can just ride harder, faster and well you get me. If you want to take it easy then just Keep on Ridin'
Recommended Route: Follow the arrows and keep pedals spinning. I'm not sure what 'route' we took but we rode about 8 miles.
We only did one lap because we were on our way to meet folks in Athens for a wheelhopper ride. See Wheelhopper dot com for that info.
There we rode more but not on better trails. The Heritage loop was the main event for the trail portion of our show and the Athens ride was the mileage skit. Other recommended trails in the same area: I wonder if Hard Labor Creek has trails or Bert Adams scout ranch. Surely there must be more out that way. I think the Oxford trails are there still too.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Nice trail. Much more technical than Conyers Oly course or FtYargo. Lots of roots, rocks and a couple of creek crossings. No real long climbs, descents or flats, the terrain is always changing, sometimes very quickly. Lots of gear shifting on this loop. Haven't ridden the "expert" sections yet, but I'm guessing if they are more challenging than the regular loop (which was used just prior to my visit for a race) they are pretty interesting. There are some "novice" side trails also. Recommended Route: The intro for this trail says it's in Athens/Watkinsville, but it's pretty far south of Athens on the west side of U.S.441, actually closer to Madison. Other recommended trails in the same area: Ft Yargo
Conyers Olympic trail
Tribble Mill

Cross Country Rider Summary: Was in Athens over the weekend, and decided to check out Heritage.
Great mix of terrain along the trail. Few nice creek crossings to chill your legs and then threw a couple open fields to warm you back up. A very fun trail full of rolling hills, single track, and a few short fire roads. if your in the area i would reccomend this trail to anyone. It does have a few weaving technical sections that are a ton of fun.
The trails are very well marked with arrows pointing you along the loop, and side loops. great job SORBA. Other recommended trails in the same area: Athens 441, yellow river (well not anymore)

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is the first time that I've gone out to ride on a trail. Still getting used to riding a bike again, so this was all new to me. There is supposed to be trail settings for all rider levels, but they can be hard to find. For the other beginners- If you go up and behind by the auditorium there is a dirt trail, if you follow this you will see the white arrow, connoting the beginners trail. A few peddles behind the auditorium off the dirt trail to the left, you can see a passage somewhat overgrown that goes back to an intermediate trail. I took my dog and she had a good time, there's plenty of creeks for them to get wet.
