Cross Country Rider Summary: ive been riding these trails for the last summer, about once a week. as the other review states, to get the most out of most of these trails you might wanna be a downhill oriented rider (my interpretation). guess im showing my skill level but a lot of this stuff i just do a controlled slide down when its dry and dusty....so much of it points straight down the mountain. although most of the routes are steep, there isnt much in the way of swtichbacks with the exception of the upper Post, House of Dreams singletrack and the trail off to the left just as you get to the house of dreams yard (my favorite). there are stil lots of fun sections scattered on all these trails, but take my advice and dont show up with a set of brake pads you "just wanna get a coupla more rides out of" expect several excersizes in controlled braking straight downhill. That being said, i look forward to going out here each time. its a fun drive in, the trails are virtually deserted, and if you wanna just burn calories muscling up fire roads, you can do plenty of that too (try the one that heads up past the resevoir to the left when you get to the intersection that heads off to HOD). lots of logs and rocky stuff to chop around in, and ascending the Post and House of dreams trails is challenging and fun (at least for a relative novice like me). no doubt there are other trails here that i havnt found yet, and if anyone can suggest other routes id love to hear from you. are there any trails heading down the other side of the mountain?
btw, if your squeeze isnt into trails but likes to ride this is a fun place to come and scoot around the fire roads. deer are everywhere in the evenings chomping grass and acting like miniature cows :)
see ya out there....ill be the one with the overheated rims :P Recommended Route: usually ride up hurtin gator fire road (from frost church parking lot) to the ridge, then past house of dreams and take HOD singletrack and Tightrope down to the resevoir, then back up post to HOD, then down the trail (i dunno its name) that starts at the beginiing of the HOD yard on the left. rinse and repeat. Also, the trail that heads down the creekbed to the Old Mill looks like it would be killer both up and down, but its a bit neglected with blowdowns, etc. blocking it for now. its really got a bit of everything and crosses the creek three or four times. i hope someone enterprising clears it. i volunteer to help if some of you Berry college dudes wanna do it. 4sephed@mindspring.com Other recommended trails in the same area: any body know any other stuff in the immediate Rome vicinity? im here once a week on business?

, from Rome Summary: the best thing to do is make shure you have a map of the single tracks becuase it is real esy to get lost. You can get maps and Bob's Cycle Shop. tons of dirt roads and single tracks a lot of good down hills its a good place to spend a day riding Recommended Route: Go to the Mountian Campus and out to the old mill thats where some dirt roads start you can follow them to some single tracks

, from Seattle,WA Summary: Tons of trails available for every skill level. Most of the trails are downhill oriented with a few that are possible to ride up (i.e. the post). For the best ride go up to the house of dreams. Once through the gate either go behind the house to a nice trail (tightrope), or cross the lawn to your left before reaching the house. From the end of these two trails the whole campus opens up. You can go down the post, the chute, www, etc. Explore.... Some very technical rock gardens to ride through and sweet log drops, if you know where you can find them. One of the most technical rock gardens is off of the fireroad to the house of dreams. During my time at Berry we built a lot of new trails criss crossing the area between the house and the resivior. A lot of work was done with log drops and rock gardens to make them rideable. Hopefully, they are still there. Recommended Route: House of dreams down "tightrope" over to "the post" past the reservior and back around to "WWW". Other recommended trails in the same area: Bull Creek
