Weekend Warrior Summary: I go here alot because it is only 15 min. away from home. If you go here, skip the fire roads, and head straight for the hiking trail. When you cross the St. Johns, on the (free) ferry, go right on the dirt road, and just after the road turns south, look for the trail on the right. This ride is short, but pretty fun, with a slightly technical rooty section at the very end. The roads can be a little sandy, getting to the hiking trail, so bring your calf muscle, or even both of them. P.S. It is a hiking only trail, but nobody is ever on it. Weekend Warrior Summary: Good cardio workout if you wish it. not too challenging... hardest parts were the sandy area in the beginning. Land is mostlty flat except the area close to the Indian Burial mound. Good for riding fast. Great scenery. In all I got through it (9 miles) in about 45 minutes. Recommended Route: Start at the entrance to the park take the sandy path west and follow it through the campgrounds, stay south east to the end (At bear claw tree), double back and at the trail intersecttion head west to the end. Go south up to the indian mound turn back around and head north until you connect to the nature trail. Stay on the trail until you are back at the begining. Along this main route there are small dead ended off shoots. in total this should equal about 9 miles.
