Ridden Trail: Once a week

Downhiller Summary: I have lived here in Melbourne all my life and ride these trails quite often for a decent workout. All these small network of single track bike trails at Wickham are for beginners or just a simple 1 hour or so workout using the network of tracks with some back tracking. Their is most definately no technical with this network of trails except some sugar sand here and their. NO jumps on the east side, except one small sugar sand hill overgrown with shrub and trees. All in all, not bad, just a good work out. Their are a few bridges, but mostly just a good run on the north end. The east side is great and has shade, but you have to share it with the occasional walkers (multi-use trail). Beware of dog c*** on the east trails, people hold no responsibility toward their animals at Wickham. I live here in Melbourne and this is the only place left to ride besides the "Hochi Min" at the Turkey Creek/Malabar Scrub Sanctuary since the Fort Pierce trails CLOSED. Bring your camel pack if you are riding in the summer, the dogs of the dog days of summer do bite hard out there.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Alafia, Balm Boyette, Santos, "Hochi Min" at Turkey Creek, Enviromental & Little Econ (in Orlando/Oveido). There is few others, but nothing that spectacular or not worth the drive from Melbourne

Cross Country Rider Summary: Pretty lame trail overall. Sandy and lots of palmetto brush makes it tough to have a good time on such an easy flat trail/sand pit. The trails go all over the place and just sort of meander here and there before ending in a patch of weeds or chain link fence. I understand that the weather and brush fires have screwed this place up some, but how could you ever think that this trail was worth the trouble to ride? If you live within 10 miles and want to get in the dirt I suppose this would be an ok break from the pavement. If you live 11 miles or more from this park, it is not worth it. Recommended Route: Just ride around until it is too hot or you get bored, (takes about 30 minutes). No real organized trail loop or markers. Couldn't find any of the jumps, hucks, or climbs mentioned in the other reviews.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Hey my Trailmasters brothers! Remember the old days when we could barely wipe the smile off our faces riding the old trail. Come out and join the action going on at the South Shore (fruit trail). It will give a grin now, and the ear to ear smiles are coming, baby! We need some help with trail building from the experts. Thurdays @ 5-5:30 is the ride and trail building day. Meet @ the St. Joes church parking lot on Babcock just before the tillman canal. SEEE..YAA!!!

Weekend Warrior Summary: Smokey the Bear says only you can prevent forest fires. Too bad a couple of kids didn't take Smokey seriously and burned down half of Wickham Park. The Fire department with their bulldover had to create some fire breaks to keep the blaze under control and wrecked some key features of our trail system and rerouted some others, ugh! If you have never riden in burned out Florida scrub nows your chance. Come ride Wickham Park its great, you'll smoke the trails. We certainly are going to need ample amounts of time to fix the parts of the trails that Brevard County Fire and Rescue tunred into sand dunes.
