Summary:
Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Association was contacted by Hernando County a time ago to be part of this exciting new project and I have been talking with the powers that be along the way and we are getting closer and they told me it was ok to let the cat out of the bag and spread the word.
That’s right!! The rumors are true. The wheels are in motion to bring Gran Canyon in Brooksville back. Of course we need support from the cycling community to get involved to help bring back one of the best trails in Florida. As many may recall the Gran Canyon is where it all started in the mid 80’s and some of the first MTB races in Fl were held there.
Hernando County has moved forward in looking at options for obtaining the land and implementing a MTB park which will include XC trails as well as a Free Ride and Dirt Jump area.

How can you help???
For now we need everyone in the cycling community to let Hernando County know of our enthusiasm and impact of the reopening as well as the draw of mountain bikers to the area.

Summary:
Man they need to do some trial maintenance. Trails are not marked clearly and the downhills are very steep and short. Going up is impossible on about 40% of the hills. Single track is covered with grass, vines, leaves. Don't think I'll go back.

Reviewed by: Darren , from Weston, FL

Summary:
Trails are not marked in a coherent manner. You end up taking the same trails over and over. Most trails are thick grass. No facilities to speak of. Difficulty of trails vary considerably and you never know what you are getting into until you are there. They just need someone to go out and sign the trails with directions and skill level to make this a worthwhile trip.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hardrock and Santos.
