Trail cuts thru palmetto and oak hammocks. No elevation change. A few palmetto roots here and there. Most difficult part is staying on the trail. It's fairly well marked, but it's not been riden enough to follow the ruts.

Summary:
The area is the Fort Drum WMA. The Starting point is at Horseshoe lake. This is a hunting area, so grab a map at the box by the first lake with the hunting season dates listed. I don't think bikers are permitted during hunt dates.

Recommended Route:
The white and orange trails are hard to follow. Short trail around lake is the best. Not a great ride but for the area it is good. Lots of wildlife.

Summary:
I know there's not a whole lot of trails around the Vero Beach area, so given the slim pickings, it's worth the drive if you live in the area. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it if it's more than an hour away. It's not very technical and you can't get much speed because you have to spend your energy watching out for the trail blazes. Bring food and water, there is NOTHING around the immediate area, and I would recommend a compass because it's easy to get lost. If more people ride the trail, it will get better. It's very difficult to follow at the present moment. It's short enough and easy enough for almost any skill level. If you're just starting to ride, I'd recommend going with at least an intermediate rider.

Recommended Route:
Ride the loop around the water. Start it off to the left of the picnic tables. You'll come out on a dirt road, head left, look for the foot bridge off to the left. Cross the bridge and you'll come out into the woods. Keep your head up and your eyes on the lookout for the orange blazes. You'll miss 'em at least three times on your ride and have to stop to find the trail. There are two orange blaze loops connected by a white blazed trail (I believe there are two connector trails.).
