Myakahatchee Creek Trails (ladyslipper parking area)
6 reviews
 2.83 of 5

The trail runs in both directions on both sides of the creek. From the parking area facing the creek the more challenging trails head out to the left. The trail to the right heads to the "Environmental Park" parking area, this can add an additional 4 mile loop but this end of the trail is DUSTY, flat, in the open much of the way and over used by quads and horses. The left trail however runs under canopy and is usually much more interesting to ride. The trail follows along the creek with lots of twists and turns and ups and downs along the banks. There is some sand, some hard-pack, many roots and various man-made and natural bridges and swales to traverse. There are also a few jumps and intentional obstacles (natural and man-made) thrown in along the way if you watch close! The trail continues on past the "dog house" down thru the dam and past the golf course to the Price blvd. bridge area. Crossing the creek can be done at several spots, but this depends on the water level in the creek and also if the bridges have been wrecked at any given time (you'll have to see as you go). Hook up with the locals on Wed. or Sun. and learn the way. (The farther you go to the left the more rugged the trails get) Also a side note; this trail and road in can become flooded for several weeks during rainy season. RESPECT THIS AND ALL BIKE TRAILS, ENJOY IT AND LEAVE IT LIKE YOU FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only the parking areas are county maintained. The trails are built and taken care of by a small but dedicated group of riders!!!!! HAVE FUN !!!!

Summary:
I just learned 'zero' is a number.

Recommended Route:
If you drive a 'Volkswagen' with a stick shift: to the left, down, and up. Any car/truck with a automatic transmission: shift to 'R'.

Summary:
I am sorry to say, and sad to report. I have never seen a trail of this sort. I have not seen such trail, with a hole in it's prose, in some type of atmosphere, that I can't suppose. So get away from this trail, and way out of this place. Or the bike-bug will bite your ass, and put it's footsie in your face.

Recommended Route:
Well, avoid the downloaded porno pictures stuck to trees, for sure. And the area where the local sheriff finds lumber plucked from close construction sites? That's another to keep far from. If you find yourself even in the area, run. Run fast. Whatever you do, just keep running.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I hope NO trails are 'in the same area'. This place is someones distant memory, and any one who is seeking reliable trails's nightmare.
Go to Markham. Go to Oleta River State Park. Or be like me and wait for 'Greenways and Trials' to make quality in SWFL. I am sorry to whoever claims Ladyslipper as theirs; I am spoiled.
I never knew 'freeriding'; where I found fun MTNB'g was always a hop skip and jump away and was NATURAL. And HARDCORE. This spot is the epitome of the glamrock scene of the eighties. Hairspray and spandex. Oh wait...
I do hope that I can persuede some County folk under the Greenways/Blueways effort here that having natural, flowing, ragged trails is going to be the mood for the soon future. These wooden tree thingies and idiot boxes are just slowing, and lamer.

Summary:
I ahd a Public Works employee tell me that a better trailhead is off of Price St. by the batting field. I got about .66 miles out of it. This by my best percentage. Has a good element to pace yourself if you frequent between Markham Park and Alafia. Soil is much better than you'd think, and just feels right.
I will have to park at Ladyslipper I 'spect, but that place is just horrific! It looks like the opening scene to 'The Parking Area that swallowed my Car'... of course this is a 'B' movie that only true car geeks would have in their Beta collection.

Recommended Route:
I'll be back.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The water is full of scent. Smell ya later.

Thought it was a cool trail. Only been riding for a short amout of time. Total rookie. Cant wait to get used to the trail. Only crashed a few times. Hope my bike can hold up to the abuse. Hats off to the creators of the man made stuff. Saw a bad ass bridge across the river, not for me yet. Lots of roots, but thats the tech part I'm trying to learn.

Summary:
Great local trails. Very technical with several man made stunts. About 10 total miles. Check out the northporttrails.org website for up to date info on the trail, planned rides, work days etc. Site has some pics and trail map. Trails are not marked as of yet but really can't get lost since the trails run from I75 towards 41 along the creek. Haven't seen any ATVs in about a year.

Recommended Route:
Park at either Lady Slipper or the Ballfield. Check out northporttrails.org wesite for trailhead and even approx trail map. Follow trails along creek and do the whole 10 miles (past the house/spillway).

Other recommended trails in the same area:
None close by. Love Carter Rd, and Alafia.
