Fast, well maintained single track with great variety of terrain, including some small hills and some great rolling jumps. Beautiful views.

Summary:
This trail did not meet my initial expectations as a fast rolling trail. The ride still turned out great though. The scenery of the scrub and the ocean breeze made it great. There are no trees and the trail is all sugar sand with many bridges.

Summary:
This is a very hard place to built trails. The terrain is very sandy and bushes brush against you the whole time. There are sections of palm roots which really destroy momenteum. I have ridden there about 20 times and never leave fully satisified. It is not very tactical and if Santos would be the 5 benchmark of Florida..JD is about a 2.4. However, with this being said I am not trying to bash the place. There is a group of remarkable people who are trying to improve the place weekly. Through the years they have expanded on trails....they have done more for mt biking in the area than I and you have to expect that.

Recommended Route:
To get there: Take US1 in between Sturt and Jupiter. Big state park cost $4 per car.

Trail: Follow the markers

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Go to Miami or up to Ft Pierce

Summary:
I rode this trail for the first time a few months ago. I was very disappointed since i am from california and am used to real "MOUNTAIN" biking. I didnt like the berms because of all the sand and quite a few of them didnt have anything to keep a person from bogging down in the sand. Great way to endo! I could tell that alot of work was put into the trails so kudos to all those that built the trails. Not much mileage in the trail system, i like to see new terrain and not have to make several loops doing the same thing...that gets boring. If you want to mountain bike dont ride in florida..check out the reviews for southern california and plan a trip out here.

Recommended Route:
None..they are all bad!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
none...you need to go out of state for some real riding.

Summary:
Trail is nicknamed "Camp Murphy" and is maintained by clubscrub.org. Trail has 4 markings, green (novice), blue (intermediate), black (experts) and P for return-to-parking. Been off the saddle for a long time and today (4/13/03) was my first time ridding this now "official" trail (I use to ride the back trails before it was official and groomed). Nice parking and picknick tables at the foot of this trail. The worst thing about this trail is the lack of proper markings (direction arrows) in *some* areas that open to 2 or 3 different directions. Even at the beginning of the trail it appeared one needed to start on the LEFT trail but most people were starting on the RIGHT. About 200ft from the start on the LEFT trail it split into 2 directions with no signs (I took right fork). I love the *natural* elevation changes! Another nice touch to this trail is the several openings to let tired or beginner ridders exit onto paved single track or simply exit (the "P" signs). While the trail had some "expert" areas, I thought they were weak or too simple. I did appreciate 2 or 3 ramp drop offs, while they had potential, the deep sand at their base made it difficult to land a cross-up or big jump (besides, we need rain). Overall, this trail has fantastic potential. Hopefully, in the future it will have better directional markings as this is the only real issue I had with it.

Recommended Route:
"The Long Trail"

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pinehurst. (Ohh how I greatly miss the K-Mart trail)

Photos and information on the trails at Jonathan Dickinson Park at: http://bicycling.netfirms.com/dickinson.html Wonderful setting, good variety and well cared for by a local club. Popular and sometimes crowded. Black Diamond runs are impressive.

Recommended Route:
Intermediate "long" trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
