Fire roads with singletrack trails stemming off. Old trolley rail bed is 'main strip' where trails start from. Mostly fast trails with ups and downs. Some stream crossings.

Summary:
This is the northern part of what is left of the old trolley line that I that went between Norwich (Jewett City) and Putnam. There are alot of old buildings and damns along the way to check out. This is a great fall ride.
**This is a loop that the local MTBers have been doing for a long time. Please keep in mind that you will cross serveral different areas of private property so BE COOL and BE CAUTIOUS.**
OK, that said this loop is very fast and flat. You can easily make the loop in under an hour.
There are tons of trails around and you could problably spent a week checking out all the little side routes here and there.

Recommended Route:
You can get to the old trolley track off RT. 12 in Danielson. I usually do a loop, so you can start anywhere around this route. I will start it from the Danielson river walk area by the waste water plant.
Follow route 12 south, pass the Big Y and look for the Savings Bank on the right. Just passed the bank is a dirt road that is the beginning of the trolley track. The trolley track will run along the Quinnebaug for about a half a mile.
You will then go into a Quarry. Stick to the trails on the river side and you will make it to the route 205 bridge over the river.
Go to the other the river and follow RT 205 until you see Allan Hill rd. on the right. Follow Allan Hill for 200 ft. and look for a trail throught the field to bring you to the Power lines. Follow the power lines to the tree farm and then bear right. There are several different trails that will bring you down to the river trail going north. If you go past an old washed out damn you got it right. Follow the single track up to the Quebec Square/arrow heart mill area. Get on the road and go up the hill and you will find your self on the opposite side of the Quinnebuag River Walk.
Ride done. Or go for another lap.
If you get lost remeber that if you go away from the river you will always hit a road. You may want to have a local road map just in case.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Check out the views at Ross's Cliffs. Just a mile up route 6 East.
