Known as "The Trail of Swears" it will live up to it's name. Lots of rock gardens, climbing, some quick steep downhills and just a good long technical ride!!

Summary:
I ride here a lot. It's covered with fire road, hiking trail and choice single track. I find lots of lost people out there so stay on marked trails till you get the hang of the place. Screaming technical descents on the northside of tower, lots of rock hopping technical stuff that will challenge all levels of riders. There is riding on both sides of the golf road, the major portion of riding is on the west side of the road but don't be afraid to mix the two sides of the roads up to get a good 2-3hour ride.

Recommended Route:
from springfield massachussets take 83 south stay left cross 190. keep heading straigh up golf road 1.5 miles and the top of the hill take a right into the parking area.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Case Mountain

Summary:
Great great ride! rocky techincal sections with a superb slick rock climb and many many other challenging amenities.
Blue trail is best and can lead you to Gay City Park for awesome car to car ride.
Follow directions written by fellow below. His description is very accurate.
One recommendation -
Once you cross Birch Mtn road, near powerlines and orchard, and head down doubletrack road ( on the way to Gay City), look for unmarked trail on right
Great little end section - it takes you to red trail of GC. head right on it to parking lot by entrance.

Recommended Route:
Park on Spring St. Exit 4 384
Ride up 6' wide paved path to Pink blaze on right. CLIMB to dirt road with white blazes - take right then right onto blue and go go go

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Shinpisit, Nepaug, Westwoods, Uconn to mansfield hollow, Pennwood

Summary:
The two trails alone (Case mntn & Gay city) are some very good singletrack, but when you go between the two on the Shenipsit it's a much more fulfilling ride. There are many ways to start the ride but I usually start at Spring St at Case and take the pink(very technical climb)up to the white and to the intersection of white and blue (Shenipsit). At this intersection you will see a 10' rock with some red painted on it. Blue (Shenipsit) will run N & S you want to go South and go and go and go...you will come across rock gardens all over, some steam crossings, and a climb of New England slick rock to a lookout to your W. You will come across blue/white these are along the ride towards the E you can take these at any point they will all lead you to the trail head to Gay City. I stay on blue until the power lines and ride parallel to them on blue/white to Birch Mountian RD. Go across and there's a field of some planted trees to your right this is now blue again and leads you right into Gay City it will be marked "Now entering Gay City". Stay on Blue, mostly downhill, over a wooden bridge, go left after that on to white to the pond. You will see picnic area and there are trail maps there for Gay City. There is also a water faucet by the walkway up to the johns, it's good water!! You just might need more at this point especially now for your ride back!! Bring plenty of water and gel or bars!!

Recommended Route:
Get yourself the "Connecticut Walk Book" this route is under Hebron Ave. to Bolton Notch, the Shenipsit Trail. The map is in the book get yourself a copy of the map and go!! The trails are marked out and just follow the blue dot!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Case mountian (yellow trails), Tyler Mill (when its dry), Nepaug (stay away from the sand, arrgghh)
