Schoolhouse Brook Park

There are about a dozen short trails. If you live within a half hour it is worth checking out. Mansfield Hollow, where more single track can be found, is a mile or so away (check out the review on mtbr.com). Many of the trails at Schoolhouse are ideal for cross-country skiing in the winter. There is a large trail map posted in the parking lot. All of the trail intersections have signs that clearly indicate the trail names. The trails are a mixture of wide and narrow singletrack with the occasional double track. Some trails are fairly technical with odd shaped granite rocks that just want to give you a pinch flat. Most trails have the Occasional wet root section and/or minor rock garden to test your skills. There are many climbs and ascents. Start out across the street from the parking lot. Take a right on stone bridge trail to warm up then explore. Parts of bird loop will require walking your bike over some very large rocks or skills I will never possess. There is nice long nontechnical climb on barrows to burn your legs. Heritage, ski loops, oak ridge, and hall are all great rides. After you have exhausted south of the parking lot cross back over clovermill road and head up roadrunner. This comes out near bicentennial pond, which has a nice beach and swimming area. From here ride across the grass (take the optional dip in the pond) and follow the edge of the pond with the woods to your right with the pond to your left. Enter the woods again and take nipmuck to pine ridge to tamarack to a left on juniper. Juniper will take you back to nipmcuck, which will get you back to roadrunner, which will get you back to the parking lot. Have a cool time.
