Once a week

Summary:
It has been logged out, meaning that loggers went it & dropped trees everywhere & left the treetops & branches strewn across the forect floor. Most trails are completely blocked & some have been turned into pea-soup mud bogs from the trucks & skidders basically destroying the stream the used to run through the area. The stream now spreads out & fills mud into the area. It is a complete shame.

Recommended Route:
TO the end of the trail to where the fat-a$$ loggers completely detroyed everything with their skidders & trucks.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
That was pretty much it in the immediate area... but Nimham, Trumbull, Trout Brook, Huntington are fairly close.

Summary:
There has been some logging going on this summer so the road is widened to a point, then narrows up again. Follow single track to the right all the way up to the housing development (a healthy climb) then back down the double-wide washout to the river... look out for the left turn to hit the narrow bridge. then up the hill on the other side & right up anothe hill into some nice narrow stuff with swithbacks & some tough sections. It's mostly pretty easy though.

Recommended Route:
Down fire-road off of short woods parking lot, then right onto singletrack once the trail narrows.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Once you're done here, drive down to Squantz pond & climb the fire road to the top of Pine hill mountain, then BOMB the single-track descent. the singel-track portion is pretty much unclimbable so use the fire road going up & through the woods going down. Approx a 40-minute loop.

Summary:
..the single track here is amazingly well maintained...and fairly untouched..there are no bridges or rickety wooden obsticals..instead there are new artistically sculpted singletrack the loops all over...there are some places where 6 trails converge...this is not a place to have an epic 2 day ride, but it can prove to be very challenging even for an expert racer...many steep short climbs and a few rocky tech sections..many dug out burms...this place is made for mt bikers by mt bikers..no question about that...i bet only 20 people have ever ridden there...secret local gem!! check it out...

Recommended Route:
head in the trail head off short woods road. this road is off of rte 37...
park at the park entrance (not squantz), there is a sign there that says pootatauck..follow fire road for about 2 miles and look for a thin single track on the right after the bomber dh...here is where it all begins
