Actually, if you were there, you could ask mr roark to build you any trail imaginable and he would even give you the skillz to ride it.. But you would have to sell your soul to him and take a walk on the darkside.. Back to the review.. Basically the terrain was a cross between fantasy island, hte sound of music and the munsters.. There are some of the best trails I will never ride again.. Some good sections, but all in all, nothing was flowing in my adrenaline glands.. Lots of hike a bike on the yellow, mudd and double track on the orange.. Some short sections were great, but not enough to bring me back.. Blue was very cool, with one nice roller, and wicked awesome switchback section.. Probably the hardest technical switchbacks in the state!! This place would need lots of work for better riding but its not like the terrain isnt there.. Oh - the white was super super super buff, and even some fun sections.. Saw several dear, but I couldnt get my condom out fast enough.. Oh I mean camera out fast enough...

Recommended Route:
Just ride the blue and white, maybe some red, skip everything else..
Trust me, LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!!! Some good trails, but all in all not worth the ride..

Summary:
Single track for medium and hard. Rocky. People giving lame reviews should read the Map first! Many people stay on white and are disapointed. Miles of riding here!

Recommended Route:
Depends on your experience, easy firetrail (White) at entrance and around pond. Medium red and yellow. Hard orange and purple.

Summary:
I can't believe people actually ride here and even consider it mountain biking and then try and say that it is "way too hard for beginners". Do yourself a favor, skip tarrywile and go find yourself a nice rail-trail, you'll get a better workout.

Summary:
All of the trails should be ridable for the experienced mountain biker, but it is still challenging. I've ridden there for years, but it always proves to throw a new twist at me eveytime I go. As you explore more, you will find more trails. Trails do go off of Tarrywile Propert though, so be aware of that. There is also more trails on the side of the park that the Castle is on. Those trails have not been re-marked, but if you know them, they can lead all of the way into Redding and you can hop out on to the road for a little bit and hook up to Bethel Resevoir that way. Makes for good 4 hour or more rides if you can find your way over there.

Recommended Route:
There are many ways to go and no way that you have to go, but usually we follow the ponds when we ride there. Another words, there are three bodies of water in Tarrywile: Parks Pond, Back Pond and Tarrywile Lake. Usually start from the lower parking lot and go on the left side of Parks Pond (white trail). Follow out the back and take the blue trail up to a connector trail (black markers) hang a right on that trail and then another right on the orange trail. Follow this trail to a camp area wiht a huge rock/dropoff. You can go across the camp are and down a really techy hill marked in red. follow it to the bottom of the hill and then cross the stream that is on your left. That's the back pond there and the stream that you cross leads to Tarrywile Lake. Follow the red trail around the right side of Back Pond for super-tech. trails. Lots of off camber and roots. Follow the red trail all the way up and you will end up in an intersection of red and yellow trails. I you follow the red markers on the dirt road, that will lead you to a map stand that will tell you where you are. Follow that trail further and take a left and that will loop you back to the are where you came up the blue trail after Parks Pond. Follow the same trails you used to get in to get out. This may seem difficult to follow, but it makes sense if you do it. It isn't that easy to get lost, because all of the trails have been remarked and there are three map stands in the park with the new maps. New maps should be available shortly from Tarrywile.

Pine Mtn. In Ridgefield open space. Even harder tech trails than Tarrywile has. Over in Carmel NY, there is Ninem. That place has never ending single track. Amazing place to ride. Look it up.

Summary:
it makes for a hard climb, but see if you can make it all the way to the top, and stand under the beacon with the blinking light that warns planes about the mountain. Very rocky, and a good, hard technical ride. It is a good challenge, so if you suck, dont go.
