Racer Summary: I was around Nepaug so I decided to give this place a try.
This is how I would describe the place. From the parking lot there is a double track that starts climbing for 3 miles and then leads to a singletrack that takes you all the way to the "overlook", which is the highest point. Also from the parking lot there is a singletrack (Blue trail) that crosses the above mentioned double track and eventually merge to get to the overlook. So, if you want a little more fun from the get go you can hit the Blue singletrack and go up.
The riding is good, good combination of smooth riding mixed with tight technical. There is a little bit of sand but not a problem at all, just thought to put it out there.
There is basically one main Blue trails but I did get lost at one point and saw some purple markers and blue with a yellow dot.
For those of you who like stunts, I did come across some built in kickers that looked pretty sweet. Recommended Route: I had a hard time finding the parking lot for this park. Why? Because the sign of the park is very small (it reads Nepaug State Forest) and it was kinda hidden under the trees.
The entrance is on Rt 202. Depending on which direction you come from you will find this dirt road entrance after/before you see some powerlines. Other recommended trails in the same area: Case Mtn.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I have not ridden Connecticut trials in close to seven years; I'm in SW FL getting word up for MTNB. This is another great area. Partly of the 'Blue Dot/Appalachian' trail networkings. It's got big 'ol rocks on the downhills, great big climbs and fun switchbacks with dips and rollers and some really amazing sweetspots. Again, there is a big hill to factor into you ride on route 202. Find a set of good beater tires and DO IT, Dammit!!!!! Recommended Route: Park at teh 'Old Saybrook Fishhouse' and cross RT. 44 ext to Rt 202 and take first right; left onto dirft riad, and apx 2 miles on L you will see a painted bar type gate. Squeak past and have fun. OR... top RT 202 and after a few left rights you will see a State sign for Nepaug St. Forest. Park across on Left and follow suit with first directions. Other recommended trails in the same area: LSD Mountain... 'South Mountian' to you Boneheaded non-locals. From there just wander the State. But you are not a local; just a wanderer.

Cross Country Rider Summary: There are numerous trails of varying difficulty. One could spend an entire day here and not become bored. From logs to rock gardens this is by far one of the better riding locations in Connecticut. Fire roads wind throughtout the forest and from here the trails branch off. Since the trails are between route 44 and 202 in New Hartford, there is usually a road to bail out on if one becomes lost. Recommended Route: Park off of 202 in New Hartford, entrance is ~ 1/4 east of the power lines and on the north side of 202. There is space for ~ 12-15 cars here, if full one can park on the south side of 202. Other recommended trails in the same area: Penwood in the Simsbury/Bloomfield area.
