Mianus River Park

This park has a tight network of both fire roads and singletrack. Good for novices and intermediate riders. The Mianus River runs along the east side of the property, so it is hard to get lost. Some climbs, short runs to bomb down, some tech sections. Overall a good workout trail with several interconnected loops. There are some log obstacles which you can find and try. Several carriage roads with singletrack offshoots.

I-95 to Exit 4, turn West up to US1, cross over (road bends to right), Make 1st Left (Stanwich Ave). Through two stop signs (keep left, stay on Stanwich) for approx 2 to 3 miles. Look for Caugnewaugh Road on Right (white sign post). Head down 1/4 mile. Pull off is on the Left.
Summary: Good ride with some great tech climbs. Good 7-8mile loops that can be done in reverse. I ride here 5-6 times a week (morning and afternoon loops on different bikes), have been noticing some stupid riding i.e. skidding back wheels, braids, unmarked trail riding/creation, and helmetless riders. Respect the park and TREAD LIGHTLY here, stick to the trails and use proper ettiquete, I really don't want riders to lose this park and will let other riders know if something isn't being done right on the trail.

Summary: This is a very good trail i ride it alot with some of my friends and we are really good. Also this trail is very difucult because there is alot of rocks in the trail, but some times there big enough to launch off of. If you been bikign for awhile this is the place you might want to check out ,but if you are just starting out don't go there.
Recommended Route: I recommend that you stay on the tralis because i was off the trails and i went down a ride down and i wiped out and i was in the hospital for 4 days and out of biking for 6 weeks and i have to buy a new bike cause the bike i had got ruined because of the crash.

Summary: This is a great trail for all skill levels. Upon entering the park, we ran into a rider who was just finishing his ride and gave us a map of the trail. The trails are clearly marked with engraved sirgns and numbered posts throughout the trail. The most important thing is to exercise trail ettiquette- This park is a haven for DOGS!!! On my first ride here I must have encountered at least 10 to 12 dogs. But for the most part, it's a fun place place to ride.
Other recommended trails in the same area: I have been to Connecticut much, but I ride manly in Sprain Ridge Park, Graham Hills, Blue Mountain Reservation.

Summary: Indeed the Mianus River Park is without a doubt the most well known park in the Stamford-Greenwich area of connecticut. The best entrance is on the Stamford side off of Westover Road at the flashing Yellow Light turning onto Merriebrook Lane, but the Greenwich entrance is less trafficked for better parking. There is a lot of Political conflict at this park. There is a small group of dog walkers and fishermen that are doing everything possible to eliminate the Mountain bikers from the park. In addition to Mountain Biking, I also dog walk at the park, but I believe the "PUBLIC" Park is for everyone! It is only a few individuals in this Dog,a nd Fishing Group that are deliberately causing conflict, and the vast majority of Dog Walkers welcome Mountain Bikers! I know the motivation of this small group of people is spitful and territorial. I actually have conversed with some of them for years. They deliberately cover up some trails with rocks, leaves, and branchs. I have disabled some boby traps set for both hikers, and bikers. There is a rotten bunch that have nothing better to do then vent their uglyness at this park. Recently they have constructed an ugly orange plastic construction fence to keep all off of some of the trails, basing this under the "GUISE" of erosion. This park offers some great biking oppertunities for many levels of bikers. The park more often than not is heavily trafficked with all sorts of hikers, bikers, fishermen, dog walkers, people haters, etc. For the reason of heavy usage it does not rank on my favorites list, but otherwise it is great!
