A nice variety of terrain here - nothing too gonzo, lots of single track. Some grassy single track, some
fern single track, some slick rock, some rock gardens, fantastic views along river (oh stop it), great moderate to easy
bike stunts, a few nice drops. The trail maintenance here is noticeably exceptional, a pleasure to ride you can clean the
whole place (if you dont suck that is).. The atmosphere at this place is strange (good strange) very interesting
surroundings - check it out - you can connect to neighboring wells woods in columbia via rail trail - just 3 miles away
(I think)..
From hartford - 84 east to 384 east, exit 5, 85 south, follow signs for 85 (85 takes some rights and lefts!!), when you hit
rte 66, go straight and look for a right (sort of fork) onto old colchester road, follow for a bit and look for a right onto
grayville road - follow to end and park in turn around before bridge. Trailhead is right where you park (single track) or
venture out on the fire road past gate..
Summary: i Go 2-3 times a week w/ my riding buddy, you should see us staring over the edges of drops wondering if we should do them.
Recommended Route: Ride over the bridge, if it is still there and when you come to the intersection of another trail, take a right and explore. See if you can find a ladder over a log and a fast, but not steep downhill with a little drop.

Summary: superb trail maintenance, well made stunts, none too hairy but very challenging, tough to clean the whole section without a few dabs or over the bar saves. Some nice slickrock,technical sections, log rides, bridges, and a few gnarly 3-4' drops. many wellcut trails in small area great place to ride.
Recommended Route: pk at end of grayville rd. enter to right side of road and before crossing river. there is a short steep bank, then you ride on a man made dike of sorts, cross river on bridge and enjoy trails to left side of road are less technical but equally as fun, both sides make a good 2 hr loop if you ride everything

Summary: Trail builders have done a great job in cutting a lot of quality trail mileage in a compact area. Lots of variety, and something for every level. You wouldn't want to plan an epic ride there, but it's a great spot for a 2 hour or less ride.
Recommended Route: There is riding to either side of a doubletrack carriage road which is really the extension of the paved part of Grayville road. Enter the left loop by taking the first distinct trail to the left of the doubletrack without a "keep out" sign. This side has is wetter, less technical, and has swoopy fast trails made by dirt motorcycles. It's a good warm up loop. It will eventually bring you back to the main doubletrack, directly across from an entry into the right hand loops. Riding on the right is good, rocky, ledgy stuff, with lots of side trails and some stunts.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Salmon river/Bull Hill Road area.
