Mohawk State Forest

Mostly made up of old fire roads with the state park road in between. There are great beginner trails right off of the paved road. However, there are so many different trails including the Mohawk Blue Trail, one could spend many hours finding them all. There are several old fire towers on the mountain with some great views into NY and MA. If you are looking for a kick in the teeth, look for the entrance to Mohawk Ski Area along the paved road for some great downhills on the snow-less ski slopes. However, getting back up the where you will get the kick. It's a lot steeper than you think ;).
Route 4 on the Goshen / Cornwall Town line. Best not to park on lot on the side of the road, but to park on any of the smaller dirt lots on the paved state park road.
