Very technical Uphill most of the way, most of it is rocks and very skinny singletrack. After you reach the summit of the trail, it is mostly downhill back to the trailhead.

Summary:
Rode this trail twice in 2010 going both directions. Great little technical climb in spots from east to west, which makes for a fun, rocky downhill in the opposite direction. Trail is a blast! Extreme exposure on top of the bluff, but easily rideable.

Recommended Route:
From middle Upper dirt parking lot (off Loma Exit) @ Mack Ridge and Moore Fun base. Ride Lions Loops West on a steady rocky climb to Troy Built fire road North to Mack Ridge East. Lions is tough and requires a 'hike a bike' in spots. There are great views to your left of the Colorado River. It's a 9.75 mile loop that you should plan on a couple hours of ride time. I enjoyed this ride even more than Moore Fun.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Moore Fun, Rustlers Loop, Mary's Loop & Horsethief Bench, Lions Loop

Summary:
I enjoy this trail when ridden from east to west. It's like a kinder genteler moore fun, its technical challenges are fewer and spaced out far enough so you can take a breath and enjoy some spectacular, narrow singletrack that holds some of the best views of this area, but don't be fooled! the challenges you'll face on this trail are just as serious as the ones you'll find on the moore infamous trail to the east. Once on top, feast your eyes on more beautiful views as you desend to the lions loop jeep road. Had enough? If so make a right, and head back to the trailhead via the frontage road. Want some more? Make a left and just a short ways down, on your left is another fruita classic, Troy Built... GO FOR IT!

Recommended Route:
East to West and if you don't do Troy built to complete this loop, your only cheating yourself.

Summary:
I rode Mary's to Steve's to Mack's, starting the trail at the western end. It is very rideable - I only had to dismount once or twice, and that because it was my first day riding at altitude (approx 4500'). It's not the best trail in the area, but it is a must-do combined with other trails. After Mack's, I rode Lion's Loop (briefly) to TroyBuilt (Troy being Troy Rarick, owner of Over the Edge Sports, a fantastic local shop that I highly recommend. Troy built many of the trails in the Fruita area.) Troybuilt is also a fun trail.

Summary:
This has got to be the most underrated trail in Fruita/Grand Junction area. With exception of the very start of the downhill I rode the whole thing w/o dismounting. Moore Fun is MUCH more technical and alot of fun too, but it just doesn't have the flow of Mack's. I probably had to dismount 10 times on Moore Fun. I prefer doing Lion's Loop over Troy Built to get to Mack's. But whatever route you choose I would have to say that this is a must do!

Recommended Route:
SW to NE then continue on Moore Fun if you want.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
All of them but Troy Built.

Summary:
The crybabies that whined about being routed up Mack Ridge are obviously just poseurs, not mountain bikers. It is one of the most fun climbs in the area, though some people can't climb, or whine if they have to use any skill or intestinal fortitude to get up an easy hill. Ride up, run across the top, drop into Troy Built and loop back to the old frontage road. It's a good quick spin and is very singlespeedable on a 2:1 ratio for those who ride instead of pose.

Recommended Route:
UP Mack Ridge from the Mary's/Moore Fun saddle. It's one of the most fun singlespeed climbs in the whole valley.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
For the whiners, Rustler's Loop. For those who know how to ride a bike and enjoy a challenge, Moore Fun.
