Colorado Trail

Average Rating:    (4.62 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 21

Start on the Junction Creek side. There is about 2 miles of singletrack following the creek once you cross the bridge you start to climb. After 1.5 miles you will reach Gudy's Rest which sits at the top. If you don't want to go down the way you came, go 1/4 of a mile and turn left on the Hoffhein's Connection. A fast 2 mile ride down and you arrive at the first right and you hit Dry Fork road. Then all lefts until you get back to Durango.

Summary:
i took a mountain bike vacation to colorado and this was by far my favorite trail. mostly because there was a good variety of everything and it was a loop. all the other trails i ended up required a shuttle. lots of climbing at the start, great switch back climb to gudy's rest. the views from gudy's rest was amazing. the decent from gudy's climb was a blast. climb up dry fork back to colorado trail and decent all the way down.

Recommended Route:
start at the junction creek trailhead, cross the river, go up the switchback climb to Gudy's rest. Keep going up Colorado trail until you come to Dry Fork and turn right climbing back up to the colorado trail. take a right when you get to the colorado trail. the decent down is a blast! once you're back at gudy's rest. decent the switchback. take a right back to the trailhead at junction creek.

Overall the trail was very enjoyable. The best part of the trail was the climb then the desent from Gudy's rest. The trail was in perfect condition and the bike just railed! I say if you get the chance get out and ride this trail.

Recommended Route:
25th street to 1st parking lot on the left after the street turns to dirt. This is the Colorado Trail trailhead, ride up Colorado, cross bridge (junction creek) up to Gudy's rest. Keep going up Colorado trail until you come to Dry Fork and go left. When you arrive at Hoffein's turn left and climb back to Colorado trail go right and this will tabke you back.

Summary:
Hello Kids! I hope you all are being good this year. Santa is having fun during the off season, I am having a lot of fun on my summer sled to ride on all the trails during the summer. It has four wheels with shocks on them. My reindeer are staying in shape for next winter. Boy, I had a lot of fun riding on this trail and it was very technical. I did a lot of jumps and Vixon got scratched by one of the tree branches on the trail. He is O.k. right now. I thought the ride was great!

Whistler, Canada. Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Phillipines, Mount Snow California, and Kenya. The Trails there are great!

Summary:
Fun single track, the whole way. I called 2 shops and asked "if you could only ride 1 trail...". They both suggested this trail. Not the most technical ride but it's a great all around cross-country ride.

Recommended Route:
The route we took: 25th street (Junction Creek) to Colorado Trail trailhead, ride up Colorado, cross bridge (junction creek) up to Gudy's rest. Left on Hoffein's down to Dry Fork loop, go right. Up Dry Fork loop back to Colorado intersection. Right on Colorado Trail all the way back down to Colorado Trail trailhead @ Junction Creek

Other recommended trails in the same area:
only on i did in durango area, however i hear horse gulch is top notch.
