Weekend Warrior Summary: There are a few different ways you can ride this trail from either direction. You can do a 5 mile loop using both trails from the Whitewater trailhead. You can do a short fun little 3.5 mile loop on the GJ side or you can do both trails in full. I just started biking again and it's close to my house so I've been exploring it. I would say it's a beginner ride with some intermediate sections?
For more info and maps, I'd check one of these sites:

http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2009/03/mountain-biking-gunnison-bluffsold.php Recommended Route: Starting from the 28 1/2 road trail head I would head up to the saddle, keep to the right and follow the Gunnison River Bluffs (GRB) portion back to the south. When you get to the junction I would cross over to the Old Spanish trail (OST) portion (left) and ride that direction until you get to the other trailhead. At this point you'll be back on the GRB trail and when you get back to the junction take the OST back to the parking area. I did the GRB out and OST back, I think it would be better to cross over at the junction as I described above.
It might make more sense if you look at the map:

Take my ratings with a grain of salt, I've only been back on a mountain bike for a month after 15 years away from the sport... so I don't have much to compare it to anymore. Other recommended trails in the same area: Mary's Loop, Lunch Loop trails
