One of the few trails around that is not straight uphill, a rugged one-mile climb is followed by a decent singletrack then old fire road through the dark timber. Trail meets up with other trails, and features a short spur to Thompson Lake. Trailhead also has a fork to Crystal Lakes.

Summary:
Trailhead starts with a fairly rugged climb up a few switchbacks before traversing the side of a mountain. There are varying patches of nice forest glides combined with steep uphill sections, some littered with babyheads. One of the only trails in Lake City that is not straight uphill the entire way.

Recommended Route:
Recommend 4WD vehicle to get to trailhead above Cemetary - if you park down low you have a half mile of very steep and usually muddy doubletrack that is worthless for mountain biking. TH lot only has 3 or 4 parking sopaces, do not block gates in case USFS needs emergency access.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Vickers Ranch up to top; Lake Loop around Lake San Cristobal; Henson Creek Road or Lake fork road to Alpine Loop
