Sweeter than YooHoo bud! Techy aggressive XC. It's a bit slow, but still my favorite trail in the Grand Junction/Fruita area. I can't ride past it without turning in. Just can't. This is true Grand Junction cross country yo, it aint no midwestern hardpack. Big rocks, ledges, jumps, ripper corners, ya get it??? And stay the eff off it if it's wet.
Summary: This is one of my favorite trails in the state. It flows well, but you have to pedal to keep your speed for much of the trail. There are fun freeride lines to be found, mixed in with all mountain stlye single track. There are a few very techy climbs, and a few places where you need to watch your bars and shoulders while squeezing through rocks. I would say this is a must ride for any one visiting the lunch loop area. Here's a helmet cam vid to give you an idea of what to expect. There are other Grand Junction trails in the vid as well, but most of it is of Holy Cross.

Recommended Route: Big Ride: Ribbon, Free Lunch, back up for Eagle's wing, Pucker up, back up to finish with holy cross. Best ride in the state!
Other recommended trails in the same area: You really can't go wrong, the whole area is a blast! Best trails in my opinion are Ribbon, Eagle's Wing, Pucker Up, Free Lunch

Summary: Holy Cross is an expert trail in the Lunch Loop Trail system just south of Grand Junction by the Monument. It is all single track. you will have rocky accents and decents the whole ride. Definitly one of the best trails in the Valley.
Recommended Route: Start from the parking lot and ride up Kurt's Lane. take a left at the top of the ridge where miramonte and the ridgeline connect at the bentoite downhill. Cross the small valley and decend into the next one. take a right and bike on up. Once you get to below widowmaker hill( will have a big flat rock standing up on its side turn around and ride down. When you get back to your first ridge line take a left and bike up the ridge line to extend ride and down through the playground.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Eagle's Wing, Gunny's Loop, Ribbon Downhill.

Summary: I can see why this area is favored by the G.J. locals for their lunch time rides, lots of short punchy loops with lots of bang for your buck. Ride Holy Cross, and you'll say "Holy Sh#*!" more than once. This is another western Colorado technical classic that you had better be prepared for. It has just about everything, some jumps and a few places to huck, but at it's technical core is steep, rump to rear tire rollovers, on a real tight and twisty trail in a maze of large boulders. Bring all of your trials like skills, or some comfortable walking shoes, because if you don't bring one you'll need the other.
Recommended Route: I enjoy this trail as part of the descent from the "Eagle's Wing" trail. cilmb the Tabaguache(?) double track to Eagle's, shortly after the "poser deposing" descent off of eagle's fork right to Holy Cross.

Recommended Route: Top to bottom, then bottom to top. When you can clean it both ways, i'll show you some moves you never thought of. Oh, and they are on the trail. What?
Other recommended trails in the same area: Ribbon, Eagles, and Gunny.
