Wilson/Sunshine Mesa

One of the most beautiful, challenging, and least ridden trails in the area. Wildflowers, wildlife, and waterfalls along with some extreme riding will reward your efforts. Don''t let the blowdowns deter you.

Trail Directions
Follow the Galloping Goose directions. At the forest service gate, continue up the road approximately 2.5 miles to Wilson Mesa/Lizard Head trail. Bypass the first Wilson Mesa intersection to the right and continue to the major creek crossing and mine ruins. Turn right and continue down the burly sections. Be ware! Some spots are extremely steep and rocky and will require advanced skills. These can easily be walked for short distances if you prefer. The trail peters out at an open meadow. Continue straight (follow the cairns). For a short loop, turn right on the Wilson Mesa Trail The one you bypassed initially) and climb back to the Lizard Head trail head and backtrack on the Goose Trail back to T'ride. If you want, continue straight and meander up and down til you get to Fall Creek Road. Have a shuttle waiting there or ride the road back to town.

Summary:
This is a super fun trail that NO ONE RIDES! Bikers and Hikers should go after labor day because at that point, it's closed to motorcycles :)
Do it as a shuttle. Start at the top of Sunshine Mesa Road near the dairy farm and have a car waiting for you at the bottom of Fall Creek Rd. just off of Hwy 145. 12+ miles of great single track with a little double track in the middle and then 8 miles of downhill on the road to the car. A good time to relax and enjoy the scenary. You should have a map, food, water and tools as you can't expect to see anyone else on this trail. Starts off with some great downhill then up and down for a while. The end is a great decent to Woods Lake and will rock your world (in a good way).
