Mixed double track/singletrack with about 1000' of climbing. Very popular with locals, quick ride for the afternoon after work.

Summary:
Best bang for your buck. One big uphill and one big downhill. With a warmup/cooldown to get from town and back. Climb steadily, and watch for lines other bikers have chosen, they're there for a reason. Downhill not technical at all except in maybe one or two places. You'll see it coming, so open up and let her rip.

Recommended Route:
Town to Tony's to Upper Loop to Brush Creek Road, and finally up the trail. Go back to town by accessing Upper Loop in Skyland (it's signed), and bomb down Tony's back to town to apres-ride.

Summary:
This trail was recommended to me by a local shop guy, who said it was one of his favorites. I can see why! Not only is it enjoyable to simply get to the trailhead, it is a friggin BLAST to ride! The climb up wasn't too bad, it is all doable with a granny gear (as are most CO climbs.) The climb up provides some nice views of Mt. Crested Butte and the countryside in general. It keeps going and going until you start to get annoyed by continually saying to yourself "the top has GOT to be just around the next bend..." Just at about that point, you hit the little meadow with the trail starting to finally lead you DOWN! At this point, just hold and and enjoy the ride! This descent isn't really all that scenic (other than the amazing aspens you fly through) but it just is SO MUCH FUN! the word for the day on this downhill is "flow!" I'd say that this is simply one of the most enjoyable downhills i've ever done - it is all about the ride! The whole time i was going down, i was thinking about just how amazingly rippin' it is. I honestly can't think of a flaw or annoying thing about it. However, if you prefer really technical, rocky Porcupine-Rim descents, you may not be all that impressed with this. however, i would find it hard to believe that anyone could not enjoy this.

Recommended Route:
tony's loop to upper loop to whetstone vista to strand

Summary:
This a very fun trail to ride, especially on your single speed (if you have 1). The climb isnt real bad, especially if you have gears but still fun. and then the Downhill areas are a blast also, they would be nice with suspension but you can get hauling. THis is not a very hard ride or very long but still fun.

Recommended Route:
If you start from town ride up gothic road , go do 401, and then when riding down the road do this trail as extra credit.

the climb sucked on my big hit but, we got to the top of some ridge and truned around. i pinch flatted hard and broke my fork part because if the rocks on a side trail. it would have been one of the best rides though.

Recommended Route:
