, from Colorado Summary: Nice trails. I suggest going for the ridge trails. It is fun riding the rocky up and downs along the ridge lines. Plus there are tons of different types of trails (sandy, rocky, flat dirt and more) that makes it a fun place to ride. We stopped in at "Balanced Rock Bike Shop" before heading up. GREAT guys, every helpful. They have a nice map of the area. Recommended Route: I am in agreement with evryone else on the reviews start from the trail head on the left side of the road. Start by going up the trail to the left side of the park signs. Just head anywhere you want. All is good.

, from Monument Summary: This was probably the first trail i had ever gone on. And it is still one of my favorites. There is everything on it. ups and downs and turns. Its a whole load of fun. Recommended Route: Well, I am not a fan of uphill, so i take the left route, up to the rock, down the stairs and back Other recommended trails in the same area: 'stupid' trail. Really not sure of real name. Just ask 'Balanced Rock Bike and Ski shop' they will tell you how to get there

, from Longmont Summary: A friend of mine gave me a copy of the Monument/Palmer Lake Trails map, which is something that the LBS, Balanced Rock Bike and Ski, puts out. We drove down from Longmont to find something new and different than the overused Boulder County trails we usually frequent. We stopped by the bike shop to get a reccomendation on a proper route; the map shows a stacked loop system of more than 20 miles in an area smaller than a three square miles. We were told where the toughest part of the the area was and the general direction we could follow. We were not disappointed. The trails were in great condition thanks to the local group that maintains the trails once a month, and that's an accomplishment during this drought. Even though there were soft sopts on the trail due to lack of water, but the tread was stable and not falling apart like so many other Front Range trails lately. The entire area sits on the escarpment of Mt Herman and the drainages provide plenty of variablity. You can be as causual or aggresive as you like in this system. Beginners and experts will get face cramps from grinning. The toughest part of the trail was challenging and fun and I'd go do it again without reservation. One Note: These trails are truly multiple use. Lots of horses, hikers and dogs. Why can't I have something like this in my backyard? Recommended Route: Any way you can! Climbing up the Mt Herman Trail from the parking lot was a nice power climb and the downhill looping back toward Monument Rock was a technical as it gets here....If you can do this loop without dabbing, everything else is butter!
