Summary:
This trail is pretty fun, if you don't mind a little backwoods navigating. The downhill that I found is probably the best in the front range area, although I don't know if I could find it again. I eventually ended up riding beside/in a creek and then through some guys back yard. He seemed cool about it though like he has seen bikers come out of there before. Try this one if you are an advanced rider and tired of riding the open space parks around Boulder.

Recommended Route:
Up to ward road, cross the stream, then down.

Walker Ranch, White Ranch, Apex

Summary:
To lessen the confusion, Jordan (previous posting) is talking about an entirely different area... I know of what he's describing, it's good and fun, but somewhat limited compared to the lefthand trails. It's also one hell of a haul up cr87=no fun to ride up. To most people, initially the REAL Lefthand Trails seem like crap, you just gotta get past (read lot's of shitty climbing and pushing your bike) the shooters and lower 4x4 area to access the good stuff. To my knowledge, there are no accurate descriptions of any of these trails in particular, I just know 'em. The good thing is that this area is mostly southern faces and open intermittently throughout the winter depending on snow conditions.

Recommended Route:
Go to the top of the hill, if the trail still goes up, you ain't there yet.

Summary:
sweet ride. ride for like 1 1/2 miles styaing on the main part of the 4x4 road, you come to a sweet viewpoint where you can see denver and boulder, go like 100 ftand go right, this will take you all over, just stay on the main part again, ride for a ways, it forks again, stay in the middle or right, don't go left, it sucks, then just ride, nice single track, you come to some rock stacks, stay left, you come to a sweet single track, then you canride back to 87 by the dirt road. you'll prolly run into me, 2000 gt aggressor. is labelled as expert or something, but i have only been riding for like 5 months, and i can ride all of it. maybe i am good, ha ha

Recommended Route:
go past jamestown to cr 87. ride up it. when you get to the top it forks, go left, ride this for a few miles. you come to lots of no trespassing signs and a couple gates, they are fake, just keep on the road until you pass a second gate, there it turns to a 4x4 road. just follow the road for a long time, it forks all over, just pick a route, it's not too hard to get lost, jsut retrace if you do

Summary:
I made the mistake of posting this trail network. Now for safety reasons I'm looking for someone to ride/explore more trails up here with. No BS'ing I'll average 2-3 hours per ride with slightly over half of that being spent climbing (about 1/3rd pushing). The pay-off is great downhilling and incredible views of front range. I get off work at 4 and try to be there by 5 (weekdays). I'm not up for baby sitting so don't respond if you can't hold your own on hairy/scary trails.

Recommended Route:
aint tellin, but it looks like Rich is on to it. There ARE ways to completely avoid the redneck shooters and 4x4's.

Summary:
this trail is a nasty nasty uphill, with a screamin downhill, be in good condition. not a trail for a beginner thats fosure.

Recommended Route:
start where lefthand canyon rd. splits in two, theres a small parking spot on the left, look for the trail across the street, carry your bike up a 20ft.ascent . then begin riding the sinlgetrack ,follow it till it turns to 4x4 then stay on 4x4 for 5 switchbacks.4x4 splits in 3 directions, take the middle 4x4,climb a grueling 1mile ascent.look for 4x4 that goes off to hard left, get on it and rocket down some superfast 4x4/singletrack,it goes in an out of singletrack, make a left back out on the road, its about 2 miles to the car.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
theres much better trails up the road at brainard lake,my favorite is a super downhill, it has everything. park at beaver resevoir, ride the secret beaver trail to the wapiti trail to the south st. vrain trail to the road then ride back up to your car. get amap for this area
