140 miles of single and double track, technical to rolling, gnarly downhills to hike-a-bike uphills, dry desert to the 26 Onion Creek crossings couldn't have been shown to us too much better than Mark, Dave, and Hawk from Kaibab Outfitters, Moab. Excellent terrain, beautiful scenery, and great food!
Summary: I've ridden this trail twice: once solo with a bike trailer (unsupported) and another time with a sag vehicle. This is a difficult trail because of the relentless climbing over many days (I recommend at least 5 days). Both times I rode from Loma to Cisco the first day, then Cisco past Dewey, Dewey to Fisher Valley, Fisher Valley to Castle Valley, and Castle Valley to Moab. Each day is 3,000' of climbing and there's a lot of sand the first day. Doing this five days straight is intense - unless you are very fit you will be spanked by the last day. A good idea would be to have a rest day scheduled in the middle of the trip - Fisher Valley and Castle Valley are both scenic spots for a rest day. Do not attempt too early in the season - snow usually persists high on Beaver Mesa until at least April.
Recommended Route: Loma to Moab.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Ribbon Trail in Grand Junction.

Summary: If you do this trail, definitely do it with a bunch of fun people. The riding itself is reasonably fun, but not particularly memorable. There are a few good (read: technical) sections, but most of it is farily sedate doubletrack, as well as significant sections of dirt and paved road. A decent multi-day trip, but don't expect to be wow-ed by the actually riding quality.
Recommended Route: Loma exit in Fruita to Moab

Ridden Trail: Once a year

Summary: This is a very technical trail, and make sure that you go with a support team. I was out of water by mid-day and everytime there was the van with a fresh supply of water. This ranges from 9500 foot altitude to a 4500 foot altitude. The trail consists of single track, double track, fire road, gravel, 30 foot long patches of beach sand, lots of them. This is definatlely an advanced trail, although when I was 13 I rode it.
Recommended Route: Ride the whole thing, it's so crazy, but fun. Go all the way from Moab to GJ. The little loops at the beginning are fun when you're 12 years old.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Tabeuache Area, take the trail off of Mira Monte Drive.
