Edgemont Ranch Loop
4 reviews
 3 of 5

Following the dirt road from the service entrance, you'll cross a strip of singletrack. Follow it to the right. You'll begin on flat, densely wooded singletrack -- fast and exhilarating. Eventually you'll hit a climb that takes you toward the subdivision's water tower. Then down to a sick whoop-de-doo section, like a giant BMX track. Once past that you'll hit the picnic area, and you're back where you started. Way back when this was a NORBA national championship course where Ned Overend began his domination of the sport.

Trail Directions
From Durango take Florida Road out about oh, I don't know, say five miles. You'll see a big sign that says Edgemont Ranch. After that you'll see two consecutive turnoffs on the right -- gated entrances to a subdivision. Pass them both. About a quarter mile later you'll see a service entrance, again on the right. If it's locked you can park on the shoulder, the trail's not far.

Summary:
It was pretty fun on the roller section. Very fast smooth single-track. Go there if you don't have anything better to do.

Recommended Route:
Park outside of the gate that leads to the picknick area, then go into the parking area to the right, there is a sign. Then go straigt onto some single track. Take it a ways, there are several trails, they are labled and private, but the house owners didn't seem to mind. Take the trails, mess around and find a good route.

Fast and fun. A few lungbusting climbs, with some smooth, light-speed downhill add up to an afternoon well spent.
