Most of this trail is lightly pitched singletrack up a wide valley. You go for a ways, through some meadows, and you cross the creek a couple of times. It's way fast uphill till you get to the creek headwaters. It gets way steep there, and way tech. At one point the trail splits, and goes up each side of the creekbed. Take the left if you want tech. You'll probably get lost if you go right, maybe not, I always go left anyway. The trail eases off for like thirty yards, and then it cuts left and gets way steep and way tech again. Lots of steep flat rock. Dont go down to the right. Keep going up till you feel like you're at the top, you probably are. Enjoy the view. The ride down is fast and tech, big drops. You can pick your line down the rocks, make sure you wind up in the same place you cut left. There is another route down from the top, it's way sick, but I'm not going to tell you where it is. This trail is worth the drive if you do it twice. I rated this trail advanced just because of the top section. If you ride the right lines, it's probably more than advanced.
From highway 24, turn in Divide(its like the only intersection there), and go south towards Cripple Creek. Just past Mueller S.P. make a left, the sign says "Crags campground", or something to that effect. Take that road as far as it goes, and you are there.
Summary: it rules. it started off easy and the first time that i tried it, i thought that it would be boring. then i got the the great technical spots. there is a steep climb, that has roots. a very technical ride. u have to walk a spot or so because of some gravel and ledges, but once ur on the top, u can ride all the way down. very good test. it is short so i like to do it a couple times. this ride is not for a first timer. I biked for a 4 years before i tried it and still thot it was hard.

Other recommended trails in the same area: i don't know the area very well, but my favorite trails are the government, captain jacks and palmer park.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Summary: very easy frist 2 miles up the chute to the left. turns right,up steeply to hard big rocks, left up the rocks on the top. might be tough last 200 yards. cliffs. This is a hike in the 50 best hikes in colorado book. Be careful of the hikers as i saw a lot of family`s on this trail.
Recommended Route: This is a day hike trail. 3 miles from trailhead to the top. no need to ride. hiked it with a 50 pound pack. might ride it with the kids to introduce them to trail riding. let the hikers have this one as it is a good day hike. The view from the top is nice. 1 star for the ride. 5 stars for the hike.

Ridden Trail: Once a month

Summary: A comfortable ride to start, then near the top it gets a bit steep and technical. The view at the top is awesome. Coming back down I don't think I ever HAD to pedal, (my eyes were tearing up from the breeze and I was laughing so hard I started to cry, it's a blast). Lots of weekend hikers and familys backpacking their infants up here though, where they come from I don't know.
Recommended Route: I park at a small clearing just after the Mennonite Camp, then ride a bit up the dirt road.
