Soda Creek Loop

Smooth winding single track, not too technical, with a few steep climbs and beautiful meadow crossing. Uncrowded usually due to its difficult location to find.

Trail Directions
Take I-70 to the Silverthorne Exit. Head East on Highway 6 towards Dillon and Keystone. At the stop light for Swan Mountain Road turn into the Summit Cove neighborhood and drive through the neighborhood on Summit Drive until you come to the Summit Cove elementary school. Park here. The trail starts south of the school in the trees near Dillon Water plant offices. The first section is a steep uphill grunt, then it winds for about 9 miles around the Keystone Ranch golf course. There are many side turns and variations to the main loop. You can pick up a connection to the Colorado Trail and Keystone's West Ridge trail off the main looop too. The last section of the trail follows a flume ditch then crosses the Keystone Ranch paved road, up the hill to the golf course single track trail, then back down the hill to the Summit Cove neighborhood.

Summary:
Super fun "lunch loop". Do some exploring on the singletracks shooting off of this route in the big meadow south of the Keystone Ranch homestead. You won't get lost, and will REALLY enoy the downhills you'll earn. Keep in mind that in a normal summer, it rains around 3pm for an hour or so, and if you ride wet trail, you should have your nuts cut off.

Recommended Route:
You can ride this trail in either direction, with the climbs being short and steep.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Keystone Gulch/West Ridge/Colorado Trail down to the Ranch or Tiger Road. Amazing singletrack either way down...the kind of trail that is packed, firm dirt and soft pine needles with very few rocks the whole way. Give props to the Summit Fat Tire Society for maintaining all this. If you are one of those gapers I always see on a rental bike that sound like you're about to have a heart attack, get out of my way! The LOW POINT for all of these trails is above 9000 feet. Don't skid, either...I'll knock you out if I catch you.

Summary:
A Summit County classic. Easy enough to bring your girl on, but fun for most to enjoy. One of the earliest to open in the spring.

Recommended Route:
As above- trailhead- cross small bridge at meadow - left - follow dbl track uphill to top - turn left onto descending singletrack (flume)- left at lake on dbl track return to bridge and trail back.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The CT anywhere in the county, but Gold Hill. Peaks trail and Ho Chi Min.
