Snow Mt Ranch- YMCA of the Rockies

Private Property, and so very little traffic. It ca get very muddy in the spring, but dries up by July. This is a Cross Country Ski Resort, so most main trails are fairly wide, and if you lookaround you'll find some singletrack. I suggest getting directions and a map before riding here, because this place is huge!

Trail Directions
From Winter Park, keep driving through Frasier and Tabernash. You will go past Pole Creek Golf Course and see a sign and a paved road on your left. It will have a sign that says "Snow Mountain Ranch-YMCA of the Rockies." Take that road for a few miles, until you see a whole lot of buildings. You'll see a tennis court first, on the left, then the next building is the main lodge. That is where you'll get Maps. You can get food and etc. there and also rent bikes. They'll tell you where to get those. This is private property and not a whole lot of City People know about it! Ask for directions to get to the waterfall trail. Ride this in the Spring and you will love it! Pole Creek runs through the resort, so if you lose your bearings, just follow it downstream, this is the only river on the property. If your family is not into Mt Biking, they can ride horses, tour an old homestead, or play in their Gym. There is also a library, nature center and miniature golf course. They also have cafeteria dining and rest. dining if you need to eat. The thing you need to remember is that you are not a paying guest, so don't play loud music (religious people) and just be cool. If you really like it there, apply to work there. They provide room and board and a little money. It is a good place to recharge. I am an ex employee and loved it when I worked there.

Summary:
I would recommend that you go up Blue Ridge, to the top at 12K feet up Sheep Mountain, that ride (if it is allowed) during the winter is the best ski I have done, it take 1.5-2.0 hours to go to the top and then on Xcountry boards it is one of the funnest (is that a word) skies down, it takes 20 minutes to get down. Just the wayto 'cool' down after a 2.0 hour workout. Wonderful, make sure you can get to the lodge quickly especially in the AM or at night, it is cold up there, really cold. Skiing up it during the winter with a full moon is amazing, I have done the night skiing (I used to work there too) after hours, and off the lit trails, and it is soooo much fun, it is hard to explain, cold, hard to see (make sure you have clear glasses and at least a cap for the noggin.

Recommended Route:
Just go where you want, it is completely open and where you are allowed will be marked. If not don't worry, you are on 6700 acres of some of the nicest property in the Middle Park Valley. It is lovely, I know because I live 2 miles from it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lots of other trails, just go up and into the back country in the summer and you will find lots of places to single and double track. Winter park area is the best for what it is, high country Rocky mountain mtn biking.
