The front range epic

Average Rating:    (2.5 of 5)

If you know the front range parks, simply do this: The Hogback South to the Red Rocks trail up into the trading post. Down out of the amphitheatre area on the roads, through morrison, and up into Mt Falcon. Out the Ute and Parmalee Gulch Trails then back down Mt Falcon, down to Morrison and back up into Red Rocks. Ride up through Matthews Winters and then over to Apex. If you're feeling punchy, you can then go up and over Lookout Mountain. (Hey, why not). Then back up to your car. Takes about four hours.

Summary:
If you're going to commit this much time to riding, go ride some uncrowed backcountry trails for 4-6 hours. It's better to encounter 5-10 other trail users than 200.

Recommended Route:
I've done similar routes before.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
All of these listed parks are fun, when done during off peak hours. Also good for night rides, but don't get caught - you will be ticketed.

Summary:
I've ridden all ofthe trails that are involved in the ride many times. This was the first time I have hooked them all together. The hogback is very technical, Falcon has a nice consistant climb and a fast downhill and Matthews/Winters is technical as well. Apex is kind of short and there is more road work involved to get back from there-make sure you hit the Enchanted forrest trail there. Don't try this on a weekend-the crowds will drive you nuts!! Very fun and quite a workout with a good mix of trail types.

Recommended Route:
exactly the same as the original instructions
