Lewis Creek

Directions:From Canon City, travel east to Florence and take Hwy 67 south about 10 miles to the town of Wetmore. Turn rt on Hwy 96 and travel south for about 5 miles to the turnoff for Lewis Creek trail, on the west side of the road.

I would not recommend riding up this trail. The first couple of miles are nice but then the switchbacks begin, and the steep loose climb doesn't really let up till the end of the 6-mile trail (12 miles out/back). However, there is Forest Service road access to the top of Lewis Cr. trail and thus the opportunity to get dropped off up top and enjoy a wild 6-mile downhill to the Hwy 96 trailhead. Topo maps should show the way, or email chris@e-vse.com and I'll do my best to provide directions. Maybe not worth the drive per se, but if you're in the area for the Lion Canyon or Tanner-Stultz loops, it could be a nice addition.
