This is a great beginner trail, thats fun for exports as well. Its best done as an out and back, but does have a loop. Expect to get wet, there are 18 stream crossings on you seven mile ride to the top.

Trail Directions
Take College Ave (hwy 287) North out of town and go to highway 14, the poudre canyon. Go up the canyan and drive for about 25-35 minutes to Poudre Park, a small community in the canyon. While passing this community, you will notice several small bridges crossing the river, at the last one you will most likely see a few cars on the side of the road, park here. There will be a gate across the bridge, cross it, it is legal. and follow the dirt driveway up the hill, you will see the trail on your left.

Summary:
Update on Hewlett Gulch. The Forest Service has redone the bridge, paved the road and put in a parking area and toilets at the trailhead. I rode it with my daughter on Sept. 29 and were the only riders on the trail. Met three hikers with their dogs and that's it. As described, fun, technical stream crossings and some lung searing climbs.

Summary:
Pretty decent trail with some nice scenery. A lot of open space so it gets annoying on hot sunny days. Coming down the meadow on top is a blast and the rocks on the loop are fun too. Other than that nothing incredibly interesting, but fun nonetheless.

Recommended Route:
For tech stuff do the loop, if not run it out and back. Make sure you go a ways up the meadow - coming down that is the funnest part of the trail.

Summary:
I think this fast creek bottom down hill is hard to beat. Lots of banking turns, technical creek crossings, huge airs, and really fun steep sections. I rode it early spring this year and the snow melt had the creek so high that the crossing were really scetch. Really fun winter ride, with good challenging up hills, and an awesome downhill ride.

Recommended Route:
I recommend the loop for more experience riders, and up'n back along the creek for less experienced riders.

Summary:
Great trail with a fairly easy climb with a few technical sections. Crossover many small streams. Eventually make it to a meadow which is a scream coming down. You can get a great amount of speed coming down the meadow. Overall an awesome trail with alot of variety.

Recommended Route:
out and back

Summary:
This is the best trail I have ever been on! The numerous stream crossings give it character. I have only done the up and back and it is pretty easy but I have heard the loop is pretty tough. The only bad thing about this trail is there was a fire recently and it has charred almost all of the trees so the forest is not in its most attractive state.

If you like to climb(you are a rare person) try Youngs Gulch.
