This is the way I normally do it, as it allows for a gradual warmup, climbing up a gravel road before turning to singletrack. More importantly, this way ends with a fun downhill that ends at the parking lot.
Ride up Lower Gold Camp Road, going through the tunnel. A couple of miles and one more tunnel later you'll come upon a large parking lot on the right. At the back of that lot is the beginning of the singletrack. This part is actually an old railroad grade that used to carry gold ore back from Cripple Creek. After approximately 1/2 mile, take the singletrack on the right, just before a stream crossing under the trail. 50 yds. after that take for a hard right. Missing this will take you up 7 Bridges Trail which is a completely different ride. Things continue to climing for a couple of miles. You'll eventually come to a "T" in the trail - take the right hand option. One hundred yards later you're pretty much done climbing. Bomb down 1 mile, cross High Drive and continue left. Two more miles of twisty rolling downhill and you're back at your car.
From I25 get on Highway 24 west. At the stoplight on 21st St., take a left and go up the hill. Go right at Gold Camp Rd. Continue straight at the four way stop. The next four way stop is the intersection of High Drive, Lower Gold Camp and Bear Creek. Continue straight on Lower Gold Camp (it takes an immediate left). After a few miles it turns to gravel. It's very narrow in places so watch for oncoming traffic. Park at the parking lot on the right, just before the first tunnel.
Summary: Great Trails, but multi-use is the key word here. You are about guaranteed to run into a motorcycle or two, probably physically, if you are bombing the downhill as they are on the gas to get up them. I used to get mad when I'd see motorcycles on the trail, until one day a real nice rider explained to me that the trails had been open to motorcycles decades before the mountain bike even existed and that many trails we ride all over the country wouldn't even exist had they not made them. Even more so, when I look at my bike it's hard not to notice how much of it is dirt bike inspired from the tires to the advanced suspension we have today. Anyway, knowing all that, and knowing that this place is the only place near to the Springs legal for Dirt Bikes, I've become totally cool with them. We have dozens of places neaby to ride, I'm happy to share this one......but I do keep my ears and eyes open!

Summary: What is there to say...short climb w/plenty of downhill to please most. Blasting between trees at hyperspeed is what most of us are here for. Undulating singletrack with the occasional roots & rocks to keep it interesting. The middles section of the trail is VERY gravelly. But that section also has these knarly motocross-like jumps that can totally toss you out of your sit if you hit them at high speed...because they'll launch you whether or not you want to. Unfortunately, you have to watch out for dirtbike riders coming up it. That happens on almost half my rides on it.
Recommended Route: Park where High Drive and Gold Camp road meet at the big parking lot. Ride up a mile on High Drive. The Buckhorn trail ends on the left of the road. The trailhead for Captain Jack's is on the right side. Take Captain Jack's down to Gold Camp Road & ride that back to the parking lot for a cool down run.

Summary: An extremely fun trail. Just make sure you have a good set of tires that can handle loose gravel.
Recommended Route: Up Chutes to Gold Camp to buckhorn to captain jacks to Gold Camp back down chutes. A great 15 mile loop.

Summary: Great early season trail, before the motorcycles and ATV trash the trail. Combine with Columbine, Buckhorn and the Chutes for a great afternoon ride.
Recommended Route: Any trail without motorcycles

Summary: I really like this trail. Being from Florida, we had to use rock quarries to get a fleeting downhill moment. Although we have forests and Florida is surprisingly fun for a flat hot state, Colorado Springs blows it away. However, you bastards seem to think that Colo Springs sucks and Aspen is better. whatever. Aspen rocks. Boulder is great, they all are great. However, you can ride down here in the springs 12 months out of the year. Try doing that in Silverthorne. What, you get a whooping 3months?? screw that. Althought those trails rule, I like to mt. bike and not spend the year on a "trainer". Don't worry, after 2yrs, in this backward conservative state (which happens to have amazing mt. bike trails) I will be in Florida again soon. Trails are trails. Have fun. and shut up about where you live and how much better it is. See you at the Beach! oh yeah you don't have one...
Recommended Route: same as the others.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Palmer Park (all of the trails) Ute valley, section 16, pikes peak, the state of colorado....
