Main trail to the summer white house ruins is a gravel fire road, with several miles of surrounding singletrack
Summary: Pretty amazing climb, I want to say you start at about 6,000 ft and summit at about 7,800 ft. Thats about 1,800 ft in only 3 miles. Its not epic, but it will get your heart pumping. The trail up reminds me of white ranch, east facing and very exposed to the sun. Here, it gets hot. Also, there are lots of blind corners, so be cautious on those descents. There are a lot of people on this trail.
From the lower parking lot, it follows a fairly nice single track that stitchbacks up the hill to the west and south. A large portion has no cover. Eventually you get up into the trees and the terrain gets a little bit more technical, but for the most part easy. Eventually you reach a saddle by a stone pavilian and the trail turns into a dirt road. From there, many options exist. I did meadow and old Ute. I found the downhill to be somewhat good. Waterbars provided some nice drops and if you look carefully, there are even a few good jumps. Coming back down Castle trail to the car, there where are lot of hikers on the way up. Be aware and look out for the many blind corners.
Recommended Route: Lower parking lot, up castle to the top. Parmalea around back.

Summary: From the lower parking lot, this is one hell of a climb, a little advise here; don't ride this trail at 12:00 noon in the middle of summer. There is no shade the whole way up with mimimal breeze to keep you from spontaniosly combusting.
A great workout for the intermediate biker. Be aware of hikers especially on the weekends, the hikers there seemed pretty cool, so all you dh bafoons don't mess it up! The climb can be brutal but the downhill is worth it. Be courteous please and yield to uphill traffic.
Recommended Route: Lower parking lot straight up.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Deer Creek, White Ranch

Summary: Either intermediate or advanced riders can find fun and/or challenges in this lil front-range open space. If you really want a good challenging climb, do Castle trail from the Morrison trailhead and climb over 2,000 vertical feet. It's a good hard grind - very techical in spots and a bit more forgiving at times. If you wanna step-up what kind of shape you're in, grind this a few times. This climb is not adviced for beginners. If you are on a more social ride, or with beginners, just or wanna sting together some loops of mid-grade climbing with fun trail, drive all the way to the top - off Parmalee Gulch Road off 285 (follow signs, it's well marked). Parking up there, take the Parmalee Gulch trail down allowing for a good 1000 foot downhill trail of not-too-technical trail. There are a few technical junctures, that's why i would say it is good for advancing intermediates - good areas to hone your techie skills. Then climb out of the Gulch, come to the meeting of a few trailheads, and you have various short-loop. The climb out of the gulch is not very tough - but will give you some work. For a short, tough, technical climb, go do Old Ute trail to Devil's Elbow loop(it probably the best mini-loop in the park), back to Ute, continue back from there. It's sweet and challenging out there. Ride Hard
Recommended Route: Route with the most work: Morrison trailhead up Castle Trail to the top of the park, Most fun: Parmalee Gulch and some other loops added in - Old Ute, Devil's Elbow, and/or Tower Trail
Other recommended trails in the same area: Deer Creek Canyon, Apex, Hall Ranch

Summary: This is a good trail. Devils elbow is fun. If you are a serious mountain biker, do not go there on the weekends because the families hiking, horses and weekend warriors on their Novara REI mountain bikes will ruin your ride.. Go to Waterton Canyon and ride the Roxborough Loop and Colorado Trail.
Recommended Route: none... There are lots of routes. If your a good climber go the opposite way for a ball breaker of a climb.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Waterton.. The only one big enough on the weekends where it can handle the crowds.. No to # sisters, Bergen, Green Mtn. All way too crowded..

Summary: Doing two or three loops on the top dirt makes for a nice long easy terrain for focusing of the mind. As for some of the comments here, "Please GOD strike them dead on the mountain top, no one will miss them, well maybe their crack whores, for a minute or two, but that's it. Thanks!"
Recommended Route: This is a great trail for morning warmups, then drive over to Dakota Ridge and "Run-the-ridge".
