Weekend Warrior Summary: Just rode it for the first time this season yesterday. Overall the trail is in good shape; lots of snow if you come from the south (lower loop, "cabin") approach but that shouldn't last. Seems like the whole trail got smoothed out a little bit over the winter but should get back to normal as it gets rode more.
Would be easy to ride stright up the scout trail right now, rather than any of the Red Canyon loops, but the trail is clean and fast for the most part so watch out for folk coming down - just go ride the loops to get to the top, okay?

Downhiller Summary: Great Trail. My other review is written under Nick Hansch but here's a new photo.
Also, to you lycra wearing cross country idiots; quit putting logs in the middle of the portions of the trail where it turns to steep downhill. Someone is going to assume that a path is clear and get very hurt. It's not responciple riding to attempt to hinder progression Recommended Route: Specified in my previous review. Other recommended trails in the same area: From the top of the trail, you can see a rough road heading slightly further up the hill towards the cell towers. Once about half way up the road, look to your left and you will see an awsome very steep, very technical trail that runs right down the west face of Lookout Mtn. This is one hell of a DH trail so don't go riding it with your seat up you butt.

Cross Country Rider
, from Vail, CO Summary: The weather was great! We didn't really receive a warm welcome from the local Glenwoodians. People were constantly speeding up on the Hwy and the fireroads were full of rednecks! I think it was hunting season too. Rednecks with guns, oh joy!
The scenery climbing up was nice, beautiful views of Mt. Sopris. On a hot day the climb would be miserable. There is a lot of exposure.
I've heard about this trail for years. Once on the scout trail the singletrack is super buff! The trail was not as steep and technical as I had hoped. The last 1/2 - 1 mile are loose and steep.
All in all it was a good ride. Watch out for the locals! Recommended Route: Same as listed. The scout trail singletrack can sneak up on you. Be alert! Other recommended trails in the same area: never ridden much in the Glenwood area. Rifle has some good singletrack. Also, check out Eagle country trails.

Downhiller Summary: Long Live Long Trails! This is an epic downhill ride if you can get a buddy to shuttle you to the top. I usually get a ride up county road 120 (Just above Red Canyon on the left) all the way to the top. There are some radio and cell towers up there and that's where the actual trail starts. When you come to the end of the road, look for a picnic bench on the left. This is the trail head. Make damn sure you have some form of suspention befor you go bombing you bike down this thing. Full suspension or a beefy hard tail are ideal. Go very slow the first time around. The start of the trail is very loose, base ball sized chunks of rock. The trail has it's tame spots but make sure you don't get going to fast becouse chances are, there's something big just around the corner. There's also alot of exposure towards the bottom of the trail. Don't take corners too fast or you'll be at the bottom of the mountain a little prematurly. Ouch!
One last thing, there's nothing wrong with taking it slow but pull over for more advanced riders to make sure everyone enjoys their day. Recommended Route: Shuttle to the top and bomb down to 8th Street. Other recommended trails in the same area: Havien't found anything quite as epic but will let you know.

Cross Country Rider
, from Tucson, AZ Summary: I lived in Glenwood for a year and rode this trail about 3 times week. I rode This trail from the bottom (in Town) up,and back. I found this to be the best way. You may have to hike-a-bike a little but that wouldn't kill you. The uphill mile is a little easier then Moad Rim Trail's uphill start. This is one trail you will not mind riding out & back. I have ridden alot of trails and I found this is one of the best.
