A nice trail for training. You can do quite a few laps on it. Some parts are fairly technical. A lot of hair pin turns

Summary:
A good, fun ride to do after work or as a training ride - you can do multiple loops. Not difficult at all, not bad for beginners for the most part. A ride with some nice singletrack and can offer a nice workout if done a few times - all close to Boulder. Watch for hikers and occasional trail runners.

Recommended Route:
Either ride up the canyon, take a right at Sugerloaf road till you get to Betasso Road, trail starts nearby... or drive up to Betasso Rd. Ride the direction the trailhead indicates as it changes from time to time.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Switzerland; Heil Valley Ranch; Sourdough

Summary:
This trail is so much fun. Its not really technical, but it has great scenary. You can do multiple loops. I like when it is run CCW. It is not for begineers, but it is an internediate trail and can bite you if you don't pay attention.

Recommended Route:
It changes direction every month. Can'r ride on Wednesday or Saturdays.

Summary:
We are begginers and have been mountain biking since last year. This trail is perfect for newbies and to build endurance without getting discouraged. It starts out with a great downhill and excellent scenery. Then it starts uphill until about the end, where you get rewarded with a another little downslope. The trail is not very long, again another reason why we would recommend it for new riders.

Summary:
This ride is often recommended as a good place to take first-timers but I disagree. It's certainly not a difficult or technical ride, but it can be a little intimidating for a first mtn ride. Some of the descents are a little rocky and loose and much of the trail has steep exposures. Conversely, intermediate and advanced riders looking for adrenaline are going to be bored here. Don't get me wrong - it's a great, easy ride, but there are better places to take people to get them excited about mtn. biking. This is a good ride if you want something close to Boulder that's not too technical or if you're a beginner who is ready for something more challenging than a rollypolly.

Recommended Route:
Clockwise from the trail head.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Much better beginner trails in the Nederland area would be West Magnolia and Mud Lake, though West Magnolia is a little sandy. If you're closer to the Conifer area, then Flying J Ranch, Lair O'the Bear or Meyer's Ranch are really excellent beginner tracks.

Summary:
Start from the canyon before the tunnel at the hydro plant. The uphill is tough as there's loose gravel. Then do the loop, and be careful coming down the loose gravel on that steep hill. This is the only place I've ever gone up on my front wheel, bounced, bounced again, and recovered by landing on my wheels. Lucky I didn't land in the poison ivy!

Sugarloaf trails
