Summary:
Mostly fire road/doubletrack riding, with loose rocks just the right size to shake your eyes out of their sockets then bounce off your front tire into your shins, but not big enough to give you any sense of satisfaction for making it through them. I didn't find much challenge to riding this trail other than the challenge of staying focused through a pretty monotonous ride. You could push yourself aerobically and make this a good workout, but I still don't see much fun about it.

Follow the map carefully, and expect to make a few wrong turns if it's your first time out. Also, watch out for trucks, four wheelers, & dirt bikers. Or better yet, ride a different trail.

Recommended Route:
Try your best to not get lost

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fossil flats, twice if you need more riding. Lake Leatherwood.

Summary:
I must say I was pretty unprepared for this trail. It starts off on some rocky/muddy jeep paths that eventually lead to a fairly rugged single track. As the entire trail slopes mostly downhill from the trailhead I was cruising along paying little attention to trail markers, and found myself going far out of the way over washed out trails (if you see the river you've gone the wrong way).

After a long (miles) bike carrying pushing session I finnaly found a jeep road that led me out. Pay close attention to the map if you ride this trail, and bring PLEANTY of water.

I registered at the Devil's Den Visitors Center, and told them I would be off the trail by 8:00... I actually made it out when it was almost dark at 9:20.

I think this is a fun but rugged trail, I'm sure I'll have more fun the next time I ride as I'll know my way around much better.

Recommended Route:
When you get to the end of the 8 mile loop, make sure not to descend down a washed out bluff trail. You can get to the river that way, but the terrain is almost impassible on a bike without some serious bike walking.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Fayetteville

Summary:
I am with the pusherman. If you don't like rocks, steep hills with rocks or flat sections with rocks you are not going to have a good time. The rocks make it fun. I like the rocks. The single track and the rocky downhills and rocky climbs make this a real challenge. Get a map, you could get lost out on these trails. I would not recommend this trail to someone new to the sport. I would not recommend this trail to someone who is out of shape. I would not recommend taking your girlfriend on this trail unless you are thinking about dumping her.

Recommended Route:
Counter clock wise. Start on the 8 mile loop, use the single track to connect to the 6 mile loop and take it to the 2 mile loop

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fossil Flats - into Saw Mill and Racers Hill.

Summary:
I agree with pusherman. This is mountain biking, if you want to shave your legs don't ride this. The rocks are not that bad, just be a little careful going down a hill with them on it. There are some very tough climbs here, you can definitely get a workout here. My only real complaints are the SUVS (but it is a lot of fireroad) and the end of the down hills. When I went every bottom of a hill had something that made you have to slow down, either a 90 degree turn of water holes. So finally I got tired of the water puddles and decided to ride through them with out slowing down. Watch out for the gray mud puddle. It was almost 3 feet deep and slick...enough said.
Seriously, this is a good workout. If you want a fun ride here do Fossil Flats. If you want to test yourself go here.

Recommended Route:
The longer of the three loops. I'm bad with names. Go ccw.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fossil Flats, Leatherwood
