Summary:
First, I'm a Beginner. I found the trail to be well maintained and fun for the most part. It is very Rocky in places. Some work could be done making it easier to find your way. Given it was my first trip here i still rode the outlaw loop 3 times in my weekend there and only found the Gravity cavity once. Lots of intersecting loos and trails made me have to guess which way to go basically. However being a beginner i will say there sections that i was proud of myself for tackling and others i had to hike a bike after attempting them.

Recommended Route:
The trail starts on double track that splits off to single track about a 1/4 mile in. I highly recommend the single track. That has got be the worst piece of double track ever. its like a cobblestone road whit loose cobblestones poured on top is the only way i know to describe it. Otherwise it was an excellent trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Springhill park in Barling, Ar

Easy, fun, a great last ride for our week-long trip. Our legs were shot by then anyway, so we really enjoyed a fun, flat, fast ride.

Summary:
Fairly uneventful trail on the whole but would make a great beginner ride. I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about the creek crossing at the end of the loops. Lots of nice scenery. I missed a turn at the end and ended up on Devil's Den trail (which is illegal and not recommended) but it was way more fun! Lot's of good rocky technical stuff there and always an audience around to put some pressure on you not to screw up. It is easy to lose track of where you are back in all the loops. I didn't see the map at the visitor's center either. The people behind the desk there also failed to point them out to me after I told them I was going to ride Fossil Flats. Lot of help they are. Definitely convenient to camp at camp A and ride these trails. Also great to have a shower right down the street from the trail head so you can clean up if you're hitting the road afterwards.

Summary:
The trail is in great shape. It has been cleaned up over the fall season. My wife and I have rode this trail system at least once a week so far this fall. She loves it. It is a perfect trail for someone who is just starting to gain some skills at biking. You can ride just about anything you want, from realy rocky, to smooth dirt. Like it was stated in another post, take your time and find the loop that works best for you. Nothing here is to hard, a few places will make a novice rider think twice. Just walk those sections, they are very short and easy to hike a bike for 10 yards.

Recommended Route:
My wife loves the section by the creek. I highly recommend this section to novice riders. If you don't want to ride the realy rocky sections I would suggest cutting across the creek at the half way point. It will cut out a few miles and a lot of ROCKS.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Also for novice riders, Spring Hill is just outside Fort Smith.

Summary:
This trail has done nothing but improve over the last 4 years that I have ridden it. Like I do in most of my reviews, I have to give credit to the trail crew for making this trail so much fun to ride.

Make sure and experiment with the loops to get just the right length as well as technical riding for whatever you want. In the summer months the trails are really busy esp. on the weekends with people hiking. Overall, a very good beginner trail with awesome single track sections.
