Lee Creek Reservoir

Singletrack composed of 2 main loops. Becareful for the occasional hiker. It's a nice little trail suitable for all skill levels. A creek seperates the two loops. The first loop is east of the creek and it follows it for a little bit and then the trail meanders up hill and takes you to some nice little sandstone bluffs. The second loop is on the other side of the creek, which I usually ride in a counterclockwise direction. The trail used to be marked with aluminum hiker tags on trees, but some of them have disappeared. There is a little cemetary on the first part of the trail; please don't be a moron and disturb the headstones.
Highway 59 North, pass new Wal-Mart Supercenter and turn left on to Old Union Town Rd. Follow Old Union town Rd. for several miles and turn left on Pine Hollow Rd. (Old Union Town Rd and Pine Hollow Rd form a "Y"; take a left at this "Y", also there is a dirt road on the left which is Pine Hollow Drive, don't take this road). Follow Pine Hollow Road for several miles until you see a church, I believe it's called Old 43 Assembly of God. Take a left by the church and you are there.
Summary: This trail was a big disappointment. It has received so little maintenance and attention that the trail would literally disappear at times. One trail the Homestead, literally stopped after a blown down tree had blocked it. Apparently it had been there for so long that the other hikers and bikers just stopped riding the remaining trail.
This area would be well served by an organized club to create and maintain trails - Any body out there?
Recommended Route: Forget about it.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Womble, Leatherwood, fossil flats

Summary: if you take the route near the steps you find a lot of rooty rocky high speed fun. there's also a creek further out and some cavish stuff. don't fall off the side.
you can also turn your bike back the direction you came in and ride until you see a hiking trail on the right. follow this trail. its pretty grown up but if you follow the hiker signs you'll come to a rocky bluff overlooking woods and the reservoir. very nice view. the trail may go farther, but about this time i noticed that i had two flat tires, so i turned around.
Recommended Route: the route with the steps is lots of fun. if you have time, do both routes
Other recommended trails in the same area: fiana hills

Summary: I do not ride a bike on this trail, but enjoy a nice little hike. The trail has many historical features, one being the site of a Civil War battle between Confederate Infantry and Union Horse Soldiers. The Southern Forces were retreating from Pea Ridge,Arkansas trying to get reinforcments to Van Buren, The Battlement walls are still visiable and some of the Grave sites are of Soldier of both sides, Buried where they fell. The trail is nice for a family to go on an outing and easy for the children to keep up. I recommend Spring or fall as the best time. Summer time is Hot and Humid and makes it difficult to enjoy...
Recommended Route: Homestead Trail is the best in my oppinion, it connects to every trail out there and if you lokk closely you will find all five cemetery sites through out the tril. (Becareful not to disturb the sites, some are hard to see if you do not know they are there)
Other recommended trails in the same area: Ozark Highland Trail is close by, and if you get a bug to go for a good Ride or Hike find and old Forest Service Road, You never Know where they might lead......

Summary: The Bluff trail is a short loop that takes you to the edges of a couple of bluffs. Some loose rocks that could send you over the edge, heads up.
The Homestead trail is a fast single track through the hardwoods. Nice secluded cove about halfway through. A tough climb/decent just after the junction with the Bluff trail. Great workout if you do a couple of loops.
Recommended Route: Bluff - Counterclockwise
Homestead - either direction
Other recommended trails in the same area: Springhill Park in Barling.

Summary: I believe that this trail could be a very hot trail, and in the future with good care could be one of the best short trails in West Arkansas. The first half mile is very well taken care of with some great exposed roots mixed with some rocks which definitely make it a true AR trail. BUT, as of Mid June, the trail was really overgrown, so much so that at points in the trail you can't see the trail. I think that if this was ridden in the fall through early spring, it could easily be a beginner trail. But in the middle of summer with the substantial overgrowth easy things become more difficult (like hitting a basketball sized rock that was hidden). I know that may sound wussy-ish, but I consider myself to be an intermediate rider and have ridden many of the trails listed on this site nationally, and this trail in the summer is definitely more than a beginner trail simply because of the flora. I am with another reviewer on this site and say that I could definitely see something about this trail that could be great, but it simply not at this point.
Recommended Route: Take both loops
