Stan's

This trail is on PRIVATE PROPERTY, although the land owner generously allows the use of his property to mountain bikers. Respecting this area is key to ensuring this trails existance. After riding the tall-grassy power line section that takes you to the trail, it begins the up hill climb. The turns are long and swoopy and are arranged in a way that you can maintain your speed. The trail passes a few ponds and two scenic overlooks along it's ridges. The trail is well suited to down hill/free ride with its many short cliffs, ramps, and rock formations. The trail makes up one of the longest continuous down hill sections in all of Arkansas. The area is "double wide" single track, and motorized vehicles and horses are not allowed. Rumor has it there is another axis point towards the peak for shuttling, although I have never seen it.

Trail Directions
Take highway 71 into Fayetteville untill you reach highway 62 on the South side of town. Exit West on 62 and drive a quarter mile to the Wal-Mart Super Center located on the left. The first street beside the Wal-Mart (also on the left) has a red clay access road with two old metal gate posts marking it. Ride up this hill, following the power lines for a mile or so. focus on heading up to the top of the mountain and the single track will expose itself to you.

I'm Stan...Really. This does not make sense. The trail described in this review is actually the "Mary Jane Trail" which evolved from the "Yellow Brick Road". It's close to Stan's. In fact, I ride it all the time. A great trail for the adventurous experienced off roader.

Recommended Route:
Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Now that I've seen that Stan's mtn. is advertised on the net. I'd like to add that he doesn't want anyone near it after a rain. The trails get real muddy and people should respect that or go help him do some maintenance. Also, everyone please work on your spelling for Christ's sake!

Recommended Route:
Go in circles.

Summary:
The secret is out! I was torn on wether or not to post this trail . . . . . but I decided I couldn't hold out on anyone smart enough to check MTBR.com for a good ride. Sorry to all the fellow locals here but I had to share! I just hope the whole Lake Fayetteville crew doesn't catch on. This trail system is rowdy! I labeled it "advanced" but it really has the possibility for Arkansas' only "extreme" riding. There are some North Shore style stunts being built by a few dedicated locals ( a teeter, sky walk, ramps, etc.) I dunno how they toated all that wood up the mountatin like that but, cheers. I still feel that the best things this trail has to offer are all of the cliff drop offs. The drops range in between 4 to 6 feet tall, and they tend to leave the sweet after taste of hard core in your mouth. A good down hill/free ride bike isn't a must for this trail, but I would highly reccomend it. There are some very hidden natural springs off of the ridge along with ass loads of wild life: expect to see deer, "racing" squirels, owls, turtles, and numerous black snakes. Be aware! If you are looking for a "nice little ride" or a Sunday cruise with the girl friend, go to Lake Fayetteville where it's safe. If you think you are bout' it though, come test your skills at Stan's!

Recommended Route:
Over all the cliff drops!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Devil's Den, Lake Leatherwood, Fianna Hills, Lee Creek Reservoir.
