Several loops are available. I road one which was 13 miles which punished you with 2500 ft + of elevation gain. These trails are by far the most difficult single track anywhere in Arkansas. Not for the timid or weak legged rider. You will use every skill you have ever learned on how to ride a mountain bike. See also the Red Star Ride.

Summary:
These trails are in Arkansas' steepest most remote mountain country. If you have GPS bring it. Also bring a friend, food, and water, because it could be a while before you find your car again. A detailed review of this trail would be impossible- you just never know what you will find out here. It gets a four star only because of the high probability of needing forrestry service air rescue.

Recommended Route:
There are no trails at the first gravel road on the right on HWY 21. It takes you to a saw mill and that's it. Instead, continue on HWY 21 about 3 miles past the HWY 16/21 intersection. On the right side of the road you should see a sign reading "Forrest road #1264" It's got lot's of nutty down hill rides that were blazed by 4 wheelers and then abandoned. Props to the ATV-nerds for once.

Red Star behind the Ball Fields. Buffalo River recreation area.

Summary:
The trails are a mix of old 4weeler trail and some hidden single track. The woods around my house are so remote that my brother and my self are almost the only ones who ride the trails. We have started a Mt bike tour compay so if you are going to ride in the area give us a call #870-428-5857

Recommended Route:
Staring in the valley climb the Ship Rock trail then
fly down Essex Overlook trail. Ridden like this you can catch some big air and the downhill is so sweeeet.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Buffalo headwaters
