Cross Country Rider Summary: Fast and lazy. Nothing technical. Love the scenery.
Recommended Route: Start at the white spar side of the trailhead. Ride 396 to senator highway. Turn right and turn left at spruce mountain road(about a mile). Climb up spruce mountain road for a great climbing workout. After about two miles, take a left on watershed trail 299. The descent is fast and sometimes technical. Take the trail back to senator highway and then back on 396.

Weekend Warrior Summary: My favorite trail in the area for it's scenery and fun factor. It may not be technical, but to start at the bottom (white spar camp ground) and ride up to Goldwater Lake just makes for a pretty ride. The ride back down is fun, fast, rolling single track. So fun and fast, it's easy to get carried away.
This is a great after work ride. Especially in the summer because it's in the pines. I'll often dunk my shirt in the lake to cool off. Too bad they don't allow swimming. Recommended Route: White Spar Campground to Goldwater Lake and back. Link as recommenced above. Other recommended trails in the same area: Get the city bike map and explore all the trails are good.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Smooth singletrack, no technical features. A few climbs but no steep or loose climbs, and none of the climbs are very extended. Recommended Route: Would probably be best to ride from White Spar Campground and ride on this trail and maybe some of the others that are in the area. Although this trail connects with 299, there isn't much point because you're going to hike-a-bike up 299 for a while, and there are other trails and routes that connect as well. Other recommended trails in the same area: 307 (Spruce Mtn) is the closest one that I would recommend. There are others from White Spar that branch off from the campground/trails, but 307 has a lot more going on when it's not been too beat up by the horses.
